summer uniform - pt 4

Today I am back with another SUPER easy summer uniform...

What is a summer uniform you ask!?! You know those outfit combos that you pull out time and time again? The ones that always just "work"? Those are like little wardrobe "uniforms" - they are easy to pull together, follow a simple formula and are perfect to have in your back pocket for those mornings you are rushing around with no time to think about your outfit or if you are just feeling a little un-inspired. Instead of pulling out the outfit you wore yesterday (hey, we are all guilty of that from time to time) or just throwing on yoga pants - you can throw on one of these super easy "summer uniforms" instead. So easy, right!?!?

You can see all the previous "summer uniforms" I have put together here!  It's no surprise that striped dresses are a mainstay in my wardrobe.  They are constantly popping up here on the blog and on my Instagram too.  But for good reason, striped dresses are a total 'one-and-done' look - they are an instant outfit that is the perfect backdrop for whatever your vibe for the day is. You can go dressy with a wedge and a nice purse, you can go casual with a sandal, or like I put together here you can go for the sporty vibe with a striped dress and a pair of sneakers! This is a super easy, everyday look for summer.

summer uniform - pt 3

We are officially THREE weeks into summer... where is the time going? Each Monday for the month of June I am pulling together an easy summer outfit or summer "uniform" to make getting dressed on summer mornings SUPER easy.

Today's look is another personal favorite of mine... and it's one I really love to wear.  A chambray top and white jeans or white shorts is not only one of the easiest summer outfit combos, but also a darling little look!  I absolutely love to wear my white jeans all summer. This outfit is perfect for the weekends around town or even for a casual Friday at the office - depending on how casual you office is... or add a blazer to dress it up. I hope you love this outfit as much as I do... go ahead and copy it sometime this week and let me know how it goes!

summer uniform - pt 2

Last week I kicked off a new June series here on the blog... the "summer uniform"!!  Each Monday this month I will be pulling together a summer uniform for you.

What is a summer uniform you ask? You know those outfit combos that you pull out time and time again? The ones that always just "work"? Those are like little wardrobe "uniforms" - they are easy to pull together, follow a simple formula and are perfect to have in your back pocket for those mornings you are rushing around with no time to think about your outfit or if you are just feeling a little un-inspired. Instead of pulling out the outfit you wore yesterday (hey, we are all guilty of that from time to time) or just throwing on yoga pants - you can throw on one of these super easy "summer uniforms" instead. So easy, right!?!?

Today's uniform is one that I rely on regularly in the summer.  Simply pair your favorite denim shorts with a striped top and sandals and voila! You are dressed.  Then add a fun pop of color with a bag or lip gloss to have a little fun with the look and make it your own.

Along with featuring a fresh summer uniform here each Monday, I will also be featuring some of my favorite summer uniforms on Instagram all month long and YOU can join in the fun!  Simply tag your summer uniform inspiration and outfits on Instagram using hashtag #goodlifesummeruniform OR if you need outfit inspiration on the go... use the hashtag to search up easy outfits on Instagram in a snap!  I can't wait to see everyone's inspiration... so post away on Instagram. I will be checking them all out!

summer uniform - pt 1

It's a new month and that means I am kicking off a NEW Monday series!  Yippee! Every Monday this month I will be pulling together super EASY outfit inspiration in the form of a "summer uniform."

Today's look is so easy it's almost criminal... but I LOVE how this look came together and it's a combo that I LOVE to wear and it's super comfortable too.  Perfect for a Monday when energy is low (summer Monday's are the worst!) and you want/need to look good but there is no creativity flowing... A simple maxi (I love a black one because it's also ultra flattering, but this green one is just SO classy and simple too), a pair of wedges for a little "oomph!" and a fun necklace to pull the whole look together.  I mean, could that be any easier!?!?  Now all you have to do is straight up copy this look and you are set.  I know I am totally going to... ;)

uniform dressing!

It's always fun to mix and match your clothing into new and creative outfits.  There are definitely days when you are feeling daring or the creativity is really flowing and great things can happen.  But if you are like me, there are some days when this is more challenging than others.

That is why I always like to have a few "uniform" outfits on hand to fall back on… it's not that these looks are uninspired or lackluster, they are just your memorized looks.  The ones you don't have to think about in order to get dressed and look great.  This spring I've already got two "uniforms" that I am falling back on regularly.

A striped dress and denim jacket outfit is nothing new… but this season is seems to have new appeal for me. I could wear a different striped dress and denim jacket every day it seems! It so easy and it can really be dressed up or down. You could easily swap out a short dress for a maxi dress or even add in a pair of sneakers for running errands or hanging out with your littles.

The tank and boyfriend jeans combo is another one I love to depend on in the spring. Mornings and evenings can be chilly - so you can simply throw a jacket or blazer over this look.  You could also really dress this look up for a night out with friends by simply adding a pair of heels and a clutch purse.

uniform dressing!

Today let's talk about uniform dressing.  Do you have a few standby outfit uniforms that you go to over and over again?

These are the hallmark of our personal style but they also make getting dressed really easy on the days when time or creativity is short.  These outfit uniforms below are some of my favorites… but you should try to come up with some of your own favorites as well.  Then keep them in mind when you are getting dressed to make your mornings a breeze!

winter uniform.

It's easy to fall into the groove of winter dressing - I just layer, layer some more and then add one layer and usually I am set for the day.  My winter uniform consists of a sweater, a scarf, jeans and boots (and usually some type of layering piece under my sweater too!).  But just because my winter uniform (and maybe yours too) has become quite formulaic, it doesn't mean it needs to be boring.

Switching up sweaters, boots and scarves in endless combinations becomes my specialty this time of year. I'll admit that I also have a few favorite combinations that I fall back on from time and again, but I do find winter dressing an adventure of mixing and matching - so it's fun to try something new to keep your wardrobe feeling fresh.  Some of my favorites lately are pairing plaid with black - I love the way it makes the colors in the plaid pop, adding red to any outfit - it's instantly bright and festive, and pairing faux fur with stripes.

Enjoy having some fun with extra layers this winter... I hope this some inspiration for you!

sweaters: grey, striped, white

boots: black, ankle, red

Is there one type of outfit you tend to be drawn to over and over again? I absolutely have a few formulas that I use repeatedly and I refer to them as my "uniforms".  You can have one or more than one signature look and they are very handy to have around when you are short on time or creativity in the morning.

Here I pulled together a few of my favorite "uniforms" to share with you today... who knows, one of these may be your next signature style or maybe it already is!

Do you have certain "uniforms" you depend on time and time again?

Chambray + jeans can be dressed up or down or choose a layer for over top!

A simple blazer and a striped top is a no-fail look that I love to wear for a fun and casual look!
above: jeans, top, blazer, bag, shoes

Leggings and an oversized sweater is the perfect casual and weekend look for fall and winter... swap out the boots for heels for a dressier look!

see you around...
