fall layers with Walmart!

This post is sponsored by Walmart and Collective Voice. All opinions are my own.

Those temps are definitely starting to dip in the mornings and the evenings and I'm so ready for fall weather and fall layers. I'm slowly starting to prep my closet for fall by taking out items like tank tops and shorts and beginning to replace them with warmer layers for the cool weather on the horizon. We've had a few lingering warm days, but even on the "warmer" days you can feel the undercurrent of fall weather on it's way. Today I've got some really easy and cozy finds from Walmart that are budget friendly too!

From this cozy half zip fleece to this preppy and fun striped puffer coat Walmart has so many warm layers for cooler weather this fall. Plus, I found some great every day finds like this striped t-shirt and this turtleneck sweater that can be worn on their own or layered as needed this fall. I love that Walmart has FREE and fast shipping on orders over $35 (I seriously am always amazed how quickly my orders arrive!) and tons of great pieces for your closet at really great prices this fall.

Shop the pieces: half zip fleece (true to size, size small), striped puffer coat (runs big, I went down a size to XS), striped t-shirt (true to size, size small), turtleneck sweater (runs fitted, I'm in my true size small) jeans (true to size, size 4)

new fall finds with Walmart!

This post is sponsored by Walmart and Collective Voice. All opinions are my own.

We are definitely getting hints of fall lately... cooler nights and cooler mornings are officially creeping back in and that along with the early morning wake ups for back to school have me in full fall mode. I'm focusing on lightweight layers to stay comfortable all day. We've had a few 50 degree mornings (brrr!) and a lightweight jacket or vest works perfectly over a thin-gauge sweater or button front top. Then for the afternoon I can shed the layer and still be comfortable. Today I have some really great lightweight layers I think you will love for these early fall days.

Walmart has the *cutest* fall pieces right now and you are going to love the prices too! Let's dig into these great pieces... first we have to talk about these jeans. I've got two pairs that you will really love. This cropped wide leg fits so well and I love the stitched pockets and high waist. Want a more everyday style? These straight leg jeans are super soft and comfortable and have the cutest slit at the ankle which is such a fun touch. Both are incredibly comfortable and right on trend.  For lightweight layers you will adore this quilted vest. I love the longer cut with the belt and the cap sleeves, it's such a fun take on the classic quilted vest. This cotton canvas trench in olive green is so good in person! It's the perfect lightweight layer for fall and you can layer with it so easily.

With Walmart you get great prices, great quality and FREE and fast shipping over $35 with every order. It's a great time to snag a few fun finds for the fall season!

Shop the look: jeans (or similar, true to size), quilted vest (true to size), button front top (true to size, runs oversized), woven mules (true to size)

Shop the look: jeans (run small, go up a size), cotton canvas trench (or similar, runs big, go down a size), striped sweater (true to size), woven mules (true to size)

bundle up looks!

Hello COLD SNAP! It got really cold, really quickly where I live and it's officially winter friends (sad face). But there are plenty of cozy sweaters, hats, coats and scarves to keep us cozy and cute all winter long! Today I rounded up four cute and WARM looks for everyday wear that I hope you will love! From running errands, quick dog walks or weekend fun with the family hopefully this inspiration leaves you feeling warm and stylish for the colder months ahead.

(above) I own a previous version of this puffer coat and LOVE it. It's so warm! And short Uggs are my go-to these days with straight leg jeans. They work great together for staying warm!

(above) Cozy sweatshirts and cozy boots make for a great winter combo. I always like to have a scarf on hand to beat the chill the in the air.

(above) Stay warm and pulled together in this classic camel coat with Chelsea boots. These are another pair of boots that work great with straight leg pants.

(above) Sherpa lined sneakers?!? Um, YES PLEASE Santa! These would be perfect for quick dog walks or a little fresh air with the kiddos this winter.

what to wear: Thanksgiving!

I just LOVE Thanksgiving and I am already dreaming of mashed potatoes and pies and turkey and all the fixings! Today I am rounding up four gorgeous outfits for the big feast... and the football. There are some great layers and scarves and plenty of plaid for that cozy fall feel that Thanksgiving evokes. From family gatherings big or small or friends-giving I hope that you celebrate with those you love most!

(above) This sweater dress with tall boots is classic and very of the moment at the same time. I just adore it with a pop of navy and plaid.

(above) A classic blazer and navy sweater is the perfect pulled together but relaxed look for family gatherings and watching football.

(above) This oversized sweater and black jeans is such an easy look to pull together and so chic to wear. I love it with a plaid layer on top.

(above) Simple jeans and a t-shirt is elevated with a sweater tee and loafers for a casual but pulled together look for enjoying a big meal and lots of pie for dessert!

loving lately: October!

I am still trying to wrap my head around how quickly October (and really, September too) went by. Wow. It was an absolute blur.... and to be honest, I would like a do over. Ha ha. Kidding, but also not. The end of the fall season is almost here and I am not ready for winter... is anyone ever really ready for winter? I think not. I digress... let's talk October!

Each month I round up my favorite purchases for the month and this month my shopping was lighter than others as I really enjoyed unpacking sweaters and coats and fall items from previous seasons. I LOVE new clothes, believe me... it's my favorite. But there is something special about unpacking last years favorites and falling in love with them all over again. I preach a lot about investing in basics, but this is exactly why I love investing in basics... they give back season after season.

I've been feeling like my denim needs an upgrade as a few pairs are going to be retired from my closet and there are so many new cuts this season that investing in denim was a top priority for me this month. I snagged this cropped flare pair (I also own them in black and love them) which are more of an investment and this straight leg pair which are under $100 and were also 40% off - so it was a good balance for the budget. From here until May it will be lots of coats and jackets and I always love finding new options since it can be a drag to always wear a coat, wearing a cute one helps! This sherpa coat is SO dreamy and warm and I've been wearing the heck out of this ultra practical quilted liner. I bought this sweater and love  it so much I've already worn it three times... it's really beautiful in person and I think it's on sale right now too! Finally, I'm an UGG lover and I snagged the UGG minis which are all the rage now in brown. It's not been cold enough to wear them yet... but I'm really looking forward to it. So that's that! If you are looking for some high quality basics for the cooler weather... these are items I own and love!

cropped flare jeans (I go with my bigger size in this brand), UGG minis, sherpa coat (true to size, I purchased my usual size small), straight leg jeans (I went with my bigger size since they don't have a lot of stretch), black quilted jacket (I went with my usual size small and it fits oversized, if you are between sizes, you may want to size down), brown sweater (true to size, I purchased my usual size small)

style x3: sweater & jeans!

A sweater and jeans is one of my most favorite fall combos. And really it's a combination I wear from now all the way through winter so it's one I am well acquainted with. Today I am styling up a classic jeans and sweater combo into three looks. Investing in good basics is the best way to build a versatile and long lasting closet and it makes getting dressed so much easier. Let's take a look at the three outfits...

(above) This sportier look is perfect for mom duty or weekends with a puffer coat and sneakers for comfort and warmth on cool fall weekends.

(above) If you work in a casual office but like to feel a little more pulled together you can add a scarf tied like a bandana and some chic flats with an long coat for a super easy work day look. This look also works for working from home, school meetings or whatever your day brings if you want to feel a little more pulled together.
Shop the look: sweaterjeanscoat, scarf, tote, clogs, sunglasses

12 basics for fall!

Do all the new fall trends have your head spinning a bit!?!? If so, I am right there with you. I love a trend, I love all the new new, but some of the trends this fall are just NOT for me. The best part about trends? They are optional! If you don't like them... just pass.

And even better news!?!? The classics NEVER go out of style. Blazers, loafers, blouses and cable knits will ALWAYS be a favorite of mine and while this season is trend heavy, the classics are always a safe and comfortable and CHIC place to land for any season. Today I pulled together 12 fall classics that are great basics to have on hand to mix and match all season. This fall I'm really focusing on pieces like these. Some new, but many old favorites that I have worn for multiple seasons and still love. That's why I love the basics... I seem to own them forever and they never go out of style.

wear to where: fall escape!

With fall color at it's peak and the holidays just around the corner lots of couples and families are squeezing in the last of fall travel. So many of you have said you are headed to the mountains, wine tasting or leaf peeping around the Midwest and East Coast. Today I pulled together beautifully layered looks for being outdoors, sightseeing, antiquing and dining out in style while staying warm too. I hope you enjoy these looks!

color trend: brown for fall!

Brown hues are a staple for fall dressing but this season they really seem to be everywhere. It's such a rich and textured colored with so much coziness built in. I just love these hues for fall and winter. You can mix and match browns for a monochromatic look or pair them with creamy whites and black for a modern look. You can add a little brown or a lot of brown to any fall look for a classic yet modern look.

fall porch decor for less with Walmart!

This post is sponsored by ShopStyle Collective and Walmart. All opinions are my own.

Thank you for supporting the brands that support this blog.

I love decorating my porch for fall. It is a favorite tradition each year in our house. This year I was a touch late getting decorations up on my porch and if you are running a little late too, there is still plenty of time with free and fast shipping from Walmart

I started with filling my pots with fall foliage and florals and added a few pumpkins from the local pumpkin patch. From there I spruced up the doormat which was much needed after summer. I chose a gingham doormat and layered a welcome mat over that for an added touch. Then I added in some faux pumpkins in white and orange to my pots and I layered them in with my real pumpkins too for added interest. These lanterns (small, medium and large) are the perfect touch for some extra light for trick-or-treaters. The finishing touch is a new fall wreath for the door and whew, I'm done just in time for Halloween. My fall decor will magically turn to "Thanksgiving" decor once Halloween passes so I still have plenty of time to enjoy it.

Shopping with Walmart will ensure your fall porch decor is ready quickly and affordably this season with free and fast shipping over $35 and tons of seasonal selections for whatever your holiday style!

sweater weather!

Sweater weather is OFFICIALLY here... brrr! I'm digging right into my sweater closet with some old favorites from previous seasons and a few beautiful new sweaters I've purchased this season. I love pairing them with jeans and sneakers or jeans and flats. You can layer them with scarves or blazers or a puffer coat or vest or plaid top. There are so many options and so many combos... which is a good thing, because it's sweaters from here until spring so we have to find some way to keep it interesting!

jacket season for fall with Walmart!

This post is sponsored by ShopStyle Collective and Walmart. All opinions are my own.

Thank you for supporting the brands that support this blog.

It's time to throw on a jacket and go enjoy all fall has to offer! My favorite fall activity without a doubt is a trip to the apple orchard for fresh apples, fresh apple cider and still warm donuts. It's a tradition that fully kicks off fall in our family. It was a tradition when I was a kid and when my kids were younger and it's still a tradition my husband and I love even if we can't usually talk the teens into going with us anymore. Instead, we just bring plenty of apple orchard treats home for them to enjoy while working on homework or hanging out with friends.

Whatever your favorite fall activity might be, football, corn mazes, apple orchards and the like you will want the perfect fall jacket on hand for cool fall afternoons. The Free Assembly line at Walmart is full of easy closet basics that mix and match perfectly in your closet. This cropped hooded peacoat from Walmart is just darling and the perfect weight to throw on over a sweater with some jeans for whatever fall fun you have planned this season.  I love that this jacket has a hood, pockets and is lightly lined making it a super mom friendly piece for fall.

With Walmart's free and fast shipping over $35 and great prices on fall must-haves, your closet will be ready for whatever adventures you have in store this season!

Shop the look: jacket (true to size), sweater (true to size), jeans (true to size), sneakers (I went down a half size)
