holiday 2016 gift guide: sleepwear for the whole family!

I've got another great gift guide today for you... if you are just tuning in, check out all the other gift guides here!

In our household we are super SERIOUS about our cozy clothes.  We like to wear them as much as possible, and we like them super cozy.  So it's no surprise that sleepwear is one of the top gifts under our family tree.  My kids go nuts for the Hanna Anderson pjs - yes, even my 12 year old boy! They like them because no pjs are warmer and softer, I like them because they wash really well and are free from chemicals that lots of kids pjs have.  But my kids will pretty much take any cute pjs!  And me too... there is nothing like sliding on super soft robe or pair of pj pants at the end of the day. Or waking up first thing and putting your toes into soft slippers instead of on the cold floor. And for once and for all I really need to get myself one of those eye covers for traveling.

And I don't think our family is alone.  Everyone loves great pjsrobesslippers and blankets this time of year.  That is why they make for some of the easiest gifts to give! Here are some sleepwear inspired gifts that will be just perfect for any loved ones on your list this year.  Think babysitters, aunts, bffs, boyfriends, nieces, nephews and on and on.

holiday 2016 gift guide: for the home!

Today I am featuring all sorts of great gift ideas for the home.  Gifts for the home are some of the easiest gifts to give - especially for those on your list that seem impossible to buy for. And let's admit it, we all have a few of those on our list each year.  Beautiful ornament sets, holiday tableware, a live wreath  an indulgent candle or even a throw blanket are thoughtful yet neutral gifts for anyone on your list.  Also, these are great gifts for newlyweds, new grads, or even for the secret santa exchange at the office.  Even teens or tweens would love a little jewelry tray or fun mug under the tree come Christmas.

Don't see what you are looking for here? Check out all my other gifts guides too!

holiday 2016 gift guide: for the guys!

GIFT GUIDES are HERE for 2016! You can find them all here!

Let's be honest... although we love 'em to pieces, the guys in our life can be the TOUGHEST to buy for each holiday season.  They always claim they don't need anything, or they already own everything they want or they are just too low maintenance to seem like they care (but I think they secretly do!).  For today's post I scoured the internet from top to bottom to find the best gifts for guys... AND I took some major hints from my husband too... These gifts are all approved by him, as well.

So what do guys really want? A YETI cooler to begin with (if they don't already have one) and you will get MAJOR props for splurging on it for them.  For the kid at heart you can't go wrong with the kan jam game or a drone or this really cool projector (no batteries needed!).  I always like to throw in a few practical things like a new sweater or two, camp socks (my husband LOVES these!), a new pair of snow boots or a plaid shirt to wear on Christmas.  My husband had this patagonia fleece jacket when we met (over twenty years ago!) he was excited to see they are now making it again, so this is going straight under the tree for him.  You can never go wrong with electronics or anything relating to them... this cord organizer is perfect for those road-warriors and what guy wouldn't love this retro bluetooth speaker for their corner office (or cubicle!)?  And lastly, if you are ready to splurge on your guy - a Shinola watch is the new "must-have" wrist wear.  I know my husband is drooling over them and they are made in Detroit. So that's a win win!

What are your favorite gifts for guys this time of year? I would love to hear what unique ideas you have!

holiday 2016 gift guides: the best kids gifts!

As a mom, shopping for kids for Christmas makes me very, very happy.  I always love picking out the gift that I hope will surprise and delight them. Which to be honest, gets harder and harder each year as they get older.  BUT, I will not be deterred. We don't do a lot of toys for gifts in our house, mostly because the kids are almost grown out of toys, but also because they tend to get the "toy-ish" gifts from grandparents, etc.  I try to focus on gifts that are fun and whimsical, a few gifts that are practical and then throw in a few surprises too.

Many of the gifts I am featuring here today are either already favorites of my kids so I know they are tried and true or they are gifts that (shhhhhh!!!!) will actually be under our tree this year for my littles (well, no so little anymore!).  Books always have a permanent place on my Christmas list each year, my 4th grader LOVED the spiderwick chronicles .. she is almost halfway through them.  They aren't too long and are perfect for boys and girls and even reluctant readers (knowing from experience).  They are also fun read aloud books if you are so inclined.

hat or two is always under our Christmas tree to keep warm and for fun.  I always love a silly gift that sparks imagination... have you seen these mice in a box?  Those will be lots of fun to unwrap and play with! Fun activities for Christmas break are always great gifts as well!  Snow tubes, fake snowballslego sets and craft supplies always pass the Christmas break quickly.  Clothes are a given too... but I try to make them fun like a crazy gold coat, bold camo pants or a classic plaid shirt. My kids always want, and usually need, a new pair of shoes - slip ons in sparkle or chambray are easy and affordable choices. And of course my kids can never wait to open their Hanna Andersson pjs... they are a classic favorite and my kids ADORE them.  They are so, so soft and free from chemicals, which is unfortunately hard to find in kids pjs.  It's always funny that this time of year their pjs from last Christmas are getting so small on them!

Whew! That is quite the round up, huh? Now to wrap it all! What will you be giving your kids this year? I would love to know what gift giving traditions you have with your kids.  Do tell!
