denim obsessed...

I may have mentioned that I have a little addiction to denim... each pair is like a poor puppy at the pound. I want to give each and every one of them a good home.

When I saw these in the recent JCrew catalog I gasped and then sighed. They are lovely, just LOVELY. $175 lovely, though?

J.Crew at ShopStyle

I'm not gonna lie... if I had it, I'd buy 'em.

my outfit: cross the tees and dot the 'i's

Ahhhh... stripes. Doesn't just looking at them make you happy? I have had my eye on this sweater for a bit and since it's arrival (pulled the old rabbit out of a hat trick... you know, online!) I haven't wanted to take it off!

It's a great summer sweater weight and I just love the three-quarter length sleeves.

Paired with polka-dot TOMS and a yellow jacket - it's some type of old fashioned fun that I am really digging.

Have you snagged some stripes yet this season?

a handbag you should know...

When I ordered this handbag from GILT I didn't pay much attention to the brand, I just really liked the bag.

And by the way, I am IN LOVE with this bag... haven't stopped using it since it arrived (and I usually like to switch up bags often!).

When the bag finally arrived the tag reading "Deux Lux" sounded familiar... I have another bag of this same brand that I got a few years back at Urban Outfitters. Another very big bag that I also love dearly. Hmmmm. I thought, I better check out some more of their offerings.

And that's when I realized I am not just in love with the Deux Lux bags I already have... I am pretty much in love with their whole line of handbags. (this is the part where you fall in love too!)

I love that they have a bit of edge to them... but in an everyday-glam type of way.

There is definitely something for everyone here, no?

my outfit: easy breezy!

Funny I should mention that I had hopes of snatching up a tunic this spring and then voila! it's here today.

It wasn't that easy... it was more like "blog magic" - you know, similar to "tv magic" (ie. women climbing out of bed looking "naturally" gorgeous, problems disappearing over commercial breaks, and my personal favorite: happy endings). But back to "blog magic" - the tunic has been on my mind for a while... as has THIS post... and I ordered this online and voila, just happened to wear it the day following posting about it.

Although I wish it was some kind of "The Secret" moment of me putting it out in the universe and then magically finding it in my closet the next day.

But alas, behind the blog scenes isn't quite so magical. But online shopping sometimes feel magical... doesn't it? Okay, now I am getting carried away (but, shhh, it does a teensy bit, still).

Isn't the detailing fab for Old Navy, though? I think this is supposed to be a beach cover up - which it will work very well for also - here I just layered it up with some accessories and it's the exact warm-weather look I was going for.

work it Wednesday: boat shoes

Reader, Megan, emailed me recently wanting some tips for styling some Sperry Top Sider boat shoes. If you are thinking, "wait, those? Those are so old school..." you are right. But they are back (as are so many trends from the 80's and 90's, no?). I thought this would be a perfect item to feature for my Work it Wednesday series here on the blog.

~~~
Work it Wednesday is one of the longest running series here on the blog where I feature one item in three different ways to show how a certain piece can be versatile in your wardrobe.
~~~

Norstrom is carrying boat shoes in bold patent colors and JCrew is carrying them in "exclusive" colors. If that doesn't prove they are back, I don't know what does.

But any way, back to Megan, she wanted to style them in a way that doesn't scream "Hey, I'm Nautical!" (her words, not mine... but brilliant none the less). Unless you are actually just coming from the yacht club, I'm betting you don't want to look like you just came from the yacht club. Although - then again, maybe some of y'all do. I'm not going to offend any one, so I will stop here.

Let's just do it up with the shoes, shall we?

It's probably safe to say that just in the mere act of putting these outfits together that I have in fact already talked myself into a pair of boat shoes. How can you say "no" to this outfit? Impossible!

This look is a great spring look... but I can invision it for fall as well. Are you with me?

Patent yellow? Resistance is futile...

Enjoy Megan... I sure hope you have snagged a pair already (or that you are not a size 6 1/2 - cuz we may have to fight for them all!)

Got a reader question for me? Email me... I try to answer them all and feature most if not all here on the blog! goodlifeforless @ gmail (you know the rest...)

Espadrilles, Espadrilles!

Looking for a comfortable and casual summer shoe that isn't a flip flop?? Enter the timeless and classic espadrille in updated fabrics and patterns!

I am loving these shoes, perfect for heading to the beach (and slipping off when you get there), pounding the pavement at your favorite fairs and festivals this summer, slipping on for a quick coffee run or for heading bright and early to the farmer's market. All of these are some of my most favorite spring and summer activities!

All of these pairs are $30 and UNDER so they are extremely budget friendly as well...

I love how they all have a vintage-y/throwback feel to them! Don't you just love them?

personal style, defined: special maternity issue!

Today by reader request we have a special issue of Personal Style, Defined! We will tackle a few of the styles we have featured in the past... romantic, preppy, boho and modern - all with a mother-to-be in mind! Here you will find some great maternity outfits and over at Jackie's blog, SweetiePiePumpkinNoodle, you will find nursery inspiration! Pure goodness! Let's jump in...

First up... romantic... I love this simple flowy (couldn't be anything else while pregnant, of course!) with very chic and embellished accessories. Here I am picturing this fun headband accompanying a perfect messy bun.

Next we have preppy... always a classic look - here I paired nautical stripes and Chuck Taylors and a bold watch to keep the whole look very classic and a touch academic.

If you are a flower child about to have a flower child, then this look is for you! A great flowing dress, a floppy hat and of course sandals!

Lastly, if modern is your type of style... here I've paired neutral colors with plenty of visual interest like this embellished t-shirt and feathered clutch!

Don't forget to check out Jackie's amazing nurseries... I'll be over there swooning (especially since we are done having kids)!
