personal style, defined: preppy!

Aaaand we're back! With another installment of personal style, defined! I am blogging along with my pal Jackie, of SweetiePiePumpkinNoodle... to define the personal style of preppy.

Chances are you know right off the bat if you are a prep-ster. No? You either like the country club, tennis group, Martha's Vineyard type looks or you don't. Although sometimes I think preppy is a style that most people closet for fear of labels. But ladies, there are no labels here - if you like this look, go for it!

A definite advantage of the preppy style is that while the look may shift a bit from season to season, for the most part it is a classic look that never goes out of style. With the popularity of the "men's wear" inspired looks these days... preppy fits right in, even if you don't have a lacrosse sticks cluttering up the back of your Land Rover.

(1. Classic Woven Shirt, Forever 21, $19.80, 2. Chiffon Pearls, Forever 21, $13.80, 3. Heritage Straight Leg Jean, Lands End Canvas, $49.50, 4. Flipside Blazer, Anthropologie, $88, 5. Harvard Vintage Tee, Delia's, $9.99, 6. Idiom Bangles, Kate Spade, $58.50 7. Penny Loafers, Marc by Marc Jacobs, $162.00)

Now let's dig into some preppy outfits...

You might be preppy if you are as excited as I am that penny loafers are making a come-back (can't believe I actually just admitted that... but it's true!)...

So are you preppy? Maybe a combination of past styles we have featured? Don't forget to head over to SweetiePiePumpkinNoodle to check out "preppy" interiors!

Oh yes, I'm preppy. My favorite, favorite shoes during high school were my Bass Weejuns. Loved them. So I share in your excitement about the return of penny loafers.

I went to college in the South and was in a sorority. Being preppy comes with the territory and I love these outfits. Thanks for all the inspiration!

Ha! I am definitely oh so very preppy and this post is so me. I guess growing up in South Florida and attending private school kinda steers one in th preppy direction, but I definitely stuck with it. I love my driving shoes (Isaac for Target, baby!), ballet shoes, and most of all my Jack Rogers.

Now I can't wait to see the interiors post...that's where I kinda struggle.

I'm loving reading people's comments on this one-they are definitely preppy and proud! This style was the hardest for me to put together-I don't think I have much preppy in me at all so I struggled a bit with getting it right. Of course I love your outfits though! No matter what the style you pick out the best options and combos!

You're right. I might be preppy. I might have quirky, preppy moments, though. I just don't know. But what I DO know is that I love so many of those pieces. And the polka dots, OH, the polka dots.

Oh very cute, love the preppy look! Maybe it's a Southern thing or being in a sorority thing but I love it.

Is the nautical look considered preppy? Would you consider any of these outfits preppy?

Thanks for taking the time to look!
