what to wear: Christmas!

Oh boy... can you feel the excitement in the air? Christmas Eve is tomorrow! I haven't picked out an outfit yet... have you? Our family does the holidays pretty casual... as do most families, but I always like to make sure that I am sporting something extra festive like a gorgeous sweater or a special pair of earrings for the celebrations.  If you do casual holidays like I do then here are some looks you may want to recreate. I'm hoping one of these will be inspiration for me as I stare into my closet wondering what to wear on the big day.

One of my favorites "tasks" of the holiday season is picking out the wrapping paper scheme. Yes, scheme. Usually I like to pick out three various styles that are all complementary to one another without being to "matchy". Then of course there are bows and bow styles to be chosen and lastly, the gift tags. The Container Store has beautiful and bold styles that will match your tree, your living room and your style! Practical Gift Guide (Inspired by Mostly Mod!)

Screeeeeccch. Put on the brakes from this dreamy post and get back to reality, right?

I love to dream. It is an integral part of my being... ask my husband about all the hair-brained ideas I can come up with on a moment's notice. He'll laugh. And then certainly indulge you.

Me: "... you know honey, like when we are famous and we are walking down the red carpet and stop to smile. I was thinking... should we do like sly smiles or super happy smiles and half-embrace or just hold hands. What suit do you think you will wear...."
Him: "What red carpet? What would we even be famous for?"
Me: "I don't know... just curious... do you think it would be a dark grey suit or just straight black, because I was thinking dark grey would be really modern and fresh"

(then, ahem, I realize we have two toddlers and a pretty average life... but if you like to dream too... just leave me a comment on what your red carpet smile would be like, k? wink, wink)

Any way, while dreaming is fun and indulgent and probably pretty healthy to maintain a positive outlook on life - it is just a dream. SO, here are some of the "practical" Christmas gifts on my list this year.

Are ya' cold yet?

Sheesh... it's winter. At least in Michigan. I'm freezing my tail off over here - both inside and out!

I've specifically been on the hunt for a cute pair of fingerless gloves/mittens to use while I am on the computer. My hands get SO cold while I'm tapping away on blog posts or cruising the web for great deals! Plus, I just got a super-spiffy iphone (yipee!) and will need to be able to tap on that while in the car and out and about. So fingerless gloves are FOR SURE in order.
