Nordstrom Anniversary Sale home picks!

I always love perusing the home section of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. There are usually some really great under the radar buys at really great prices. Every year I stock up on blankets and candles... which sounds a little silly, but I'm always thanking myself when the cold weather comes around and I have plenty of both squirreled away. Plus, if you are in the market for a new small appliance like an oil diffuser (love mine!) or a electric kettle (we have this kettle and LOVE it) the prices are right! Plus basics like glassware and towels are really great prices right now if yours need a refresh.
glasses (I'm really liking this pattern), mini diptyque candle set (I buy these every year, they're so potent you can smell them even when they aren't burning), rose gold electric kettle (we have this and LOVE it, it gets a lot of use), essential oil diffuser (I keep a few of these around the house, they are especially helpful in the smellier parts of the house like where the teens live ;) ), knit throw blanket (I bought this at the sale two years ago, it's so beautiful), throw rug (would be gorgeous in a bathroom!), lifeguard station art (I have a similar print at my desk in the mudroom), nest candle set (these are my two favorite scents from nest!), marble lazy susan (this is so beautiful!), fleece tassel blanket (we have three of these now our family loves them so much! Plus, they wash up really nicely and still look brand new!), clean bath rug (so cute for a kids bathroom or powder room), towel set (simple and classic! I love white towels because I can bleach them)

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale: What I Bought!

My Nordstrom Anni sale items finally arrived... well, some of them! I will post today what's already arrived and will add to this post as the rest of them arrive. So far I am only waiting on this grey & beige cardigan and these black joggers which look to be almost sold out so here are some similar or similar.

I was really impressed with the items that I got, I won't be keeping them all... more on each item below but I can already tell that there are so new tried and true favorites here. I sound like a broken record, but I think this sale is such a great opportunity to stock up on classic basics with a few investment pieces thrown in. There are so many pieces that I still own from many previous years. The items I buy at the sale each year seem to be long time favorites.

Let's take a look at what I snagged this year...

Okay I think this is my new "favorite" piece from the sale! It's under $40! Super soft and stretchy and available in ALL sizes. Whoop! This fabric is super soft and cozy and it's available in so many colors I can see this being a really great summer to fall staple.
Sizing: I am in my usual size small, it's a little oversized. Go down a size if you want it more fitted.
Shown with: jeans on sale, t-shirt, flats

I knew I would love this when I first saw it online and I was right! It's SO perfectly oversized and cozy. I can not wait to wear it this fall. Plus, it has POCKETS!
Sizing: I am in an XS, I went down one size.

(above) ankle boots
I am a little bummed because the color is lighter in person than online. This is the cognac color. I have a very similar color of ankle boots already, so this pair is likely going to get returned. But these are gorgeous in person and even though the heel is quite high, they are comfortable.
Sizing: I am usually between a 6.5 or 7. These are a 7 and a touch tight. I think a 7.5 would fit perfectly. So keep that in mind when ordering.

This sweater is stunning. I am so in love with it. It's really making me excited for fall and to be honest I wouldn't mind snagging it in the black too.
Sizing: I am in an XS, a small would've worked too. So go with your usual size or down a size depending on how oversized you want it.
The jeans are great but I think I got the sizing wrong. I'm usually a 26 or 27 and went with the 26. I know they will stretch a bit but they are pretty tight. Otherwise I LOVE these jeans. Stretchy, perfect distressing and a great color. They do run long, but with a raw hem you could easily cut the hem to your preferred length.
Sizing: Again I am between sizes 26/27 and should've gone with the 27. So I would say true to size or go up if between.
Shown with: ankle boots

(above) cashmere scarf
I have two of these scarves from previous NSales! It's SO good. One is 4 or 5 years old and one is 3 years old and they have held up so well. I usually dry clean them a few times a year. I use these as scarves in the winter and also travel blankets all year. For plane or road trips it's lightweight but warm and makes a perfect little travel blanket.

I can't resist a sweatshirt these days and this one is a cutie! Love it!
Sizing: I'm in a size small, fits true to size.
These leggings are oldie but goodies! The are just as good for lounging as really tough workouts.
Sizing: True to size, I am in my usual size small.
Shown with: nike sneakers

(above) nike sneakers
I've had my eye on these sneakers for what seems like forever. I even bought them earlier this spring and then returned them (the color way of that pair just wasn't for me). But I couldn't resist them on sale and I ADORE this cream color with rust and gold accents. They are so perfect for fall.
Sizing: I am usually a size 7 in Nike. These are size 7.

(above) ugg slippers
I can not resist Uggs. I just love them so much for winter and this little pair of slippers is such a good price. I love them.
Sizing: True to size. I got my usual size 7.

This little cutie is under $20 and so cute on it's own or for layering necklaces! It has a few size settings so you can make it shorter or longer.

(above) fleece blanket
I love these fleece blankets with tassels. They are such a great price and wash SO well. Between the kids dragging them around the house and the dog I stocked up!

I finally splurged on this blanket for myself and I couldn't be more thrilled with it. It's of course INCREDIBLY soft, but look how big it is too! This is going to get some serious snuggling time this fall and winter.

(above) triangle bra
This bra gets incredible reviews and I am OVER underwire bras these days. The padding is removable and while I haven't tried it yet (it literally JUST landed on my doorstep!) I trust these amazing reviews! I followed the size guide for choosing a size, mine is a medium.

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Wishlist!

I am able to shop the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale tomorrow with Ambassador status. You can check your own status by logging in at Nordstrom.com and going to "my account".  I have my wishlist all set to go and even a few back up options in case my first choice options are sold out. These are the top items on my wishlist... again, I don't know what exactly will be available when I am able to shop but fingers crossed for these goodies.

If you haven't made a wishlist on Nordstrom.com for the sale yet I highly recommend doing so! This is the first year the wishlist is an option and it's been so handy as I make decisions about what I want to buy this year. You can simply add items to your wishlist and then organize them in folders. On the day of the sale you can "check" off the items you want to buy and in the bottom right corner of your screen choose "add to cart" and voila! So easy!

Let's take a peek at some items on my wishlist currently...

top row, from left:
boots, these were love at first sight. In general I like flats, but for boots I really like a heel and these are gorgeous!
distressed jeans, I love these and I don't currently have a pair of skinny distressed jeans.
long cardigan, this is gorgeous! I see wearing it with leggings, jeans and joggers this fall. It looks so cozy!

middle row, from left:
cashmere crewneck, I have one of these from last year and LOVE it. It's a great price to stock up on a classic.
disc necklace, this is so pretty and will be fun to layer with other necklaces.
puff sleeve sweatshirt, perfect for around the house with leggings or jeans and sneakers for fall.

bottom row, from left:
ugg slippers, I am an UGG lover. These look perfectly cozy for winter and the price on these is great!
chunky knit sweater, I saw this last year and wanted it but never bought it. Thank goodness for second chances! ;)
black jeans, I have never tried this brand but a lot of people rave about it and black jeans are a mainstay for me for fall and winter. I'm excited to try them.

Nordstrom anniversary sale: items I own and love!

Last year for the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale I pulled together a post featuring items I own and love that will be back in the sale this year. It was such a popular post I thought I would do it again this year. The NSale is full of so many classic pieces each year and I love that some of these classics have real staying power and come back season after season.

Here are some items I own and LOVE and have loved over previous seasons. I think you will love them too!

(above)
Spanx leggings (true to size, or size up if between sizes) - I have owned these forever and just love them. They are great for fall and winter since they are quite warm too.
cream mockneck sweater (runs big, I went down a size) - a true favorite from last winter this oversized sweater is so soft and cozy. Works great with leggings, jeans or joggers
Adidas sneakers (runs big, I usually wear between 6.5/7 and have a 6) - these are my current walking shoes. I think they are better errand/around town shoes but they work for walks too!

(above)
crewneck cashmere sweater (runs big, I went down a size) - cashmere is always my favorite to buy in the NSale since the prices are so great. This sweater is such a classic. The colors are a bit different this year, but the style is the same.
rag & bone jeans  true to size) - I just got these jeans and LOVE them. Very soft, perfect amount of stretch and super flattering. The cut is the exact same but the finish looks a tiny bit different in the sale. Either way, it's a great price.
sorel wedge ankle boots (true to size) - these were my BEST purchase from the sale last year. They are pricey but SO worth it. I wear them in snow and ice and they are waterproof and have a nice thick tread for all weather. I can't recommend them enough.

(above)
grey cardigan sweater (runs big, go down a size) - this sweater is in the sale pretty much every year and it's always a favorite. It's soft and stretchy and so cozy for cool days.
black button front jeans (true to size) - my version are several years old, but this idea is the same. Mine were more of a faded black when I purchased them, the NSale version this year is more of a deep black.

(above)
sorel wedge ankle boots (true to size)

(above)
Adidas sneakers (runs big, I usually wear between 6.5/7 and have a 6)

(above)
ankle boots (true to size)
These were an NSale purchase 2 years ago and I still love them SO much. I love the slightly shorter height of the boot on the ankle since it works with jeans really well.

(above)
stan smith sneakers (runs big, I went down a full size)
These are so classic and comfortable and are a great price. I've worn my for full days at Disney and around town with the kids.

(above)
fleece blanket (middle) & chunky knit blanket (top)
These are two of my favorite blankets... the top one I purchased 2 years ago in the NSale and the middle fleece one I got last year. This year I'm snagging a few more of the fleece options since the price is so good and they wash really great (hello, kids and pets)!

(above)
feathers underwire bra (follow sizing guide online) - I admit I don't wear tons of underwire bras lately, but when I do... it's this one. I've worn this style for many years and the NSale is a great time to snag a new one since they rarely go on sale. They are so beautiful in person.

(above)
tory burch wallet (logo is slightly different this year) - this is another NSale purchase from 2 or 3 years ago. I use it everyday and it's in and out of my purse constantly and it still look brand new. It's a little pricey, but such good quality.

(above)
slip hair ties & t3 hair dryer - two beauty purchases I use almost daily. I've noticed a big reduction in breakage since starting to use these slip hair ties. They are much gentler on my hair than anything I've tried before.  This hair dryer is fantastic. More quiet than others I've tried and doesn't fry my hair.

(above)
gold bar necklace & gold crescent necklace - I don't even know how long I've owned these two necklaces.  Forever! They are so classic and great quality since they still look brand new. They are great layered or on their own.

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale PREVIEW launched today and I'm so excited to show you a few of my early favorites from the sale! But first let's talk about the sale, why I love it and what you can expect!

When does the sale launch?

If you are a cardholder you can gain early access to the sale depending on your Nordy Club member status. This status is linked to your yearly spend with the Nordstrom card.  You can check your status by logging into your Nordstrom.com account and clicking on My Account, and then The Nordy Club. It will give you all the details of when you can shop there!

Icon Level can shop August 4, 2020
Ambassador Level can shop August 7, 2020
Influencer Level can shop August 10, 2020
Insider Level can shop August 13, 2020
... and then everyone can shop on August 19, 2020

Why is the sale such a big deal?

This sale is always such a big deal every year since it's all NEW fall handbags, clothing, shoes and accessories that launch ON SALE. So you get the NEWEST styles and trends for fall and winter on sale. Most retailers wait until new arrivals are picked over to put them on sale. This is the other way around and the shopper can really score some deals.

Plus, fall and winter items tend to be pricier. Think jeans, boots, wool coats, sweaters since there is just more material and quality needed to make them warm for cooler temps. Getting fall and winter items on sale is definitely the best way to shop for those seasons!

What can I expect to find in the sale?

You can expect to find all new styles and trends for fall. Items like sweaters, sneakers, ankle boots, jeans, coats, handbags and lots of accessories will be included in the sale. Most sale items will be fall or winter oriented, but historically there has been some great wear-now pieces too.

You can also count on items selling out quickly, it always happens. Sad but true! It's a good reminder that if you see something you love, snag it.  Many people will buy items in multiple sizes and then return the size that doesn't fit. And this will be more true this year than in past years since most people will be shopping this sale online rather than in-store. So there will definitely be restocks!

Every year I stock up on sweaters, jeans, fall shoes like flats or ankle boots, winter boots (I got an amazing deal on some Sorel boots last year that I wore a ton) and usually a new handbag. I tend to go for the classic pieces each year and it's been a great strategy, since many items I've purchased in the past are items I still own and love.

Will the sale be different this year due to COVID?

Already the date of the sale has changed from a mid-July launch to a mid-August launch. I'm thankful for that since it's better timing with fall shopping.  So far the sale looks to be just as good as previous years! There is TONS of items on sale and NEW for the sale this year is all the sale items are already LIVE on the site. You can ADD TO YOUR WISHLIST NOW and the morning of the sale you can easily go in and just check out! How awesome is that!?!?

What you will see from me for sale coverage?

I'm planning on finding some great fall staples and classics like I usually do. Sweaters, denim, sneakers, ankle boots and a handbag are on my wishlist this year. I will post round ups of my favorite items. LOTS of try ons and hopefully some 6 ways to style with items I purchase as well.
