I will say that one thing that was successful in January was the cleaning out and organization that happens after the holiday insanity. It felt good to clean out closets, my pantry, our storage room, kids rooms and even move some furniture around in my home for that 'fresh start' feel to the year. I plan to continue on with that vibe for February too. At heart I am NOT a minimalist... but as I get older I do find myself tending towards living more minimalist-ish. I crave more neutrals in my wardrobe, less STUFF around the house and clutter can send anxiety waves over me. I took a break from shopping in January (except a new coat on mega sale) and instead shopped my own closet (seen here) and also gave myself some time to think about what new pieces I would like to purchase for spring.
Going into February I am craving neutrals and simple pieces that will have a big impact on my wardrobe and also anything and everything having to do with Valentine's. Here are a few things on my radar right now...
My Apple Watch is almost three years old now (can that be right!?!?) and it's been on the fritz lately. Which has me wondering... should I get another Apple Watch or try a super cute smart watch like this one instead. I'm torn... what do you think?
A simple tie front top like this one is perfect for layering with jackets, vests and cardigans for the winter but will also be very cute come spring with jeans and sandals or even shorts (shorts! what I wouldn't give for short season right now!).
This leopard sweater is MAJOR love at first sight. This is the TOP of my wishlist right now. I love that it's perfect for winter - how cute would it be with boyfriend jeans? But it would also be a great transition for spring with white jeans too.
This L O V E necklace is giving me all the hearts in my eyes. It's a perfect little Valentines gift (hint, hint for husbands) or as a gift for teens/tweens or bffs.
I don't wear a lot of earrings but when I saw these wood hoop earrings (under $20!) I instantly fell in love! Aren't these so fun and unique? They would be perfect with sweaters and jeans now and just darling with sundresses this spring.
Like I mentioned, I am already starting my spring wishlist and classic sneakers like these grey canvas sneakers (under $60!) are going on my list. Sneakers were all the rage in 2018 and my guess is that 2019 will be the same - and really, they are so comfortable and practical, how can you resist?
The one purchase I can always justify this time of year is new fitness apparel. These camo leggings are so fun and it's a well known fact that new fitness apparel is ALWAYS helpful in making those workouts a priority.
For those of us that are perpetually cold (raise those hands!) - I am always looking for a chic extra layer this time of year. This grey poncho is gorgeous and looks like it would be super cozy!
Lately I have been reaching for the simple denim that I own the most. No fancy washes or cuts or distressing. Just a good old "regular" pair of jeans. These classic jeans (under $80!) are just what I am craving.
Everybody loves Spiritual Gangster these days... even my daughter is hooked on their fun tops and super soft fabrics. This "love" tank is perfect with Valentine's on the horizon and while it's technically a workout tank it would be adorable under a cardigan too!
This small cross-body bag has been calling my name for a few months now... it's so cute and the perfect little crossbody size for traveling or for busy moms. The thing that has repeatedly drawn me to it are the super FUN color combinations and strap patterns. Each color way has such fun details... I love this white option but the PINKs are so cute and the red is gorgeous too!
