Fall road trips have a special place in my heart... especially living here in Michigan. Packing a bag of cozy sweaters and scarves and hats to see all the beautiful fall colors, check in at some of our favorite small towns and see Lake Michigan in all it's steely grey blue splendor for the fall season always makes for a memorable and fun weekend. Once fall weather truly hits I'm ALL about the cozy basics. Oversized sweaters, UGG boots, a warm hat and a great pair of jeans are pretty much all I need to be a happy camper on a weekend away.
A few weekends ago when my husband and I headed to Northern Michigan for our anniversary we were blown away by how vibrant all the fall foliage was that weekend. Can you even believe these leaves?! It was such a feast for the eyes. Each road we turned down seemed to have brighter and bolder colors than the last. We enjoyed lots of amazing food, farm stands, visiting wineries and lots of time away from the hustle and bustle of regular life. Is there anything better?
Nordstrom is my GO-TO for all the fall weekend basics I need this season. Whether I'm shopping for a new pair of under $100 jeans (love these!) or the coziest of all cozy sweaters (like this sweatshirt/sweater combo) I always know they will have the perfect pieces to keep me looking my best. I'm mostly an online shopper with Nordstrom, but every time I've stopped in the store I'm always blown away at how kind and helpful their sales staff are, which is so rare in the retail marketplace these days. When I do shop in store I love taking a pit stop in either their coffee shop or their restaurant for a little pick me up - both are unexpectedly delicious for a department store!
