spring trends 2014: beauty!

This post is going to wrap up my spring trends series… we have covered so many great trends, styling tips and budget finds over the past two weeks!  To see all of the posts… click here.

Today we are going to cover beauty… I will be honest, these are less "spring beauty trends" and more "spring beauty goals" for me or products I have been wanting to try.  I am no beauty blogger, but I do love to share products I love or that pique my interest.

This spring I really want to go for a less is more/super laid back approach to beauty… which for the most part is what I already do, but I'd like to hone in on a few more products that can help make my morning routine easier and of course prettier.  What gal doesn't want to fall in love with what is looking back at her in the mirror!?!

Body:
Tory Burch scent, I'm eager to try this as my spring scent… has anyone tried it? Loved it?

Bronze Glow, it's time to get some sun on our skin ladies!

Suncare, but not too much sun… amiright?

Face:
Bobbi Brown set in Pretty Pink… a few of my makeup pieces need updating and I love that this set makes it easy to know what goes with what (since I'm not a natural in the beauty department).  Plus, I love the light pinks and peaches… simple and beautiful.

Nails:
Essie Spring colors "Fashion Playground" and "Spin the Bottle"… I always love the new Essie colors each season - these two are so soft and pretty.  I think they would make for a great spring mani/pedi session.

Hair:
I'm still trying the no heat (except blow drying) on my hair. It's so easy to ditch the flattener and curling iron (except for special ocassions). But without the extra heat comes extra frizz and I feel like I am still fine tuning the processing.  Spring brings humidity (more frizz) and I am getting nervous!

Living Proof "No Frizz" Set… I've been wanting to splurge on these, have you tried them? Are they really as magical as the price would imply?  I could use as much frizz protection as possible!

Dry Bar Blow Dryer… my stylist says that a good blow dryer really makes a difference. And since I'm still using a $25 one from 10 years ago it's definitely time for an upgrade.  I love the Dry Bar, but let me know if you have another blow dryer you love, I would love to know!

Bumble & Bumble City Swept… another product I want to try for spring, looks like it will be a great finishing product.

spring trends: get in my closet!

It's been spring trend mania around here… I've reviewed my favorite trends including pastels, ankle strap shoes, dresses, shorts, small cross-body bags and white pieces.  I could talk about spring trends from now until summer… there are so many great trends to snatch up this spring.  To bring this little series to an end I thought I would highlight a few more of my favorites… these are the stragglers that I love but that maybe don't need a full post devoted to them.

I call these the "get in my closet" trends… they are fun, easy to wear and likely the "trendiest" of the trends this season.  Will we be wearing these next spring also? Maybe, maybe not… but sometimes the one hit wonders like these are just what we need to jazz up the basics each season.

classic sneakers, these are definitely on my wish list to wear with leggings, jeans and tees for casual spring & summer days.

eyelet pants, classic and simple these would be great to dress up a tee or chambray top this spring.

graphic tees, a definite "trendy" trend… these are fun to wear especially layered with a blazer or simply worn with shorts as the temps warm.

floral, I'm not much for pattern but florals are nearly impossible to resist this time of year! This pattern is my favorite and is also available in shorts, pants, a tank, a skirt and this fun top.

sweatshirt, the one sweatshirt I own gets so much use I think it needs a buddy. These are perfect for cool spring mornings or evenings and I love their relaxed vibe.  Dress them up with a fun necklace!

chambray shorts, the essence of summer in a flirty short, I hope to snag these for hanging out at the pool or bopping around town with the kids this summer.

mint nails, or mint anything really. Mint is hot this spring!

simple beauty, I am enamored with these RMS beauty lip gloss & luminizer. I think simple beauty pieces like these will be the perfect spring beauty picks.

After we have reviewed all the spring trends… what is at the top of your wish list?

spring trends 2014: white!

Each spring I break down the best of the trends I love for the season and lay it all out right here on the blog for you. Over the coming weeks you'll get a peek at the trends I am loving for spring and tons of tips on how to style those trends as well. Consider these posts your spring shopping cheat sheets!  We only have a few trends left to feature…

Today's trend is white and while this isn't any new trend for spring this year over previous seasons, it is one worth mentioning.  There is nothing fresher than white tops, jeans, shoes or dresses in spring.  Drag out your favorites from last year or boost up your spring supply of white pieces with a few of my favorites below.

Whites go with your bold colors, your favorite neutrals, stripes (oh, stripes!) and you can even try a white on white look for extra drama.   Check out my tops picks this spring and my tips and tricks for styling them below!

spring trends 2014: small cross-body bag!

Each spring I break down the best of the trends I love for the season and lay it all out right here on the blog for you. Over the coming weeks you'll get a peek at the trends I am loving for spring and tons of tips on how to style those trends as well. Consider these posts your spring shopping cheat sheets!

This week so far we have covered pastels, ankle strap shoes, fresh dresses, new shorts and today I have for you small cross-body bags!  Do you have your spring shopping list well under way by now?! I know I do for sure.

Let's get to today's trend! I am usually a huge tote person when it comes to bags… I like to carry all of the things (in excess) and usually there are a few of the kids' things in there as well.  But this spring I am really digging the relaxed vibe that these small cross-body bags are giving off.  So carefree, so minimal and so fun (bold colors get me every time!).  They are perfect for spring activities like heading out for a walk at the lake, a trip to the ice cream parlor or the farmers market.  I can't wait to shed bulky coats, sweaters and bags for a simple spring look like the ones below.

So what do you think… are you a cross-body bag kind of gal?

spring trends 2014: new shorts!

Each spring I break down the best of the trends I love for the season and lay it all out right here on the blog for you. Over the coming weeks you'll get a peek at the trends I am loving for spring and tons of tips on how to style those trends as well. Consider these posts your spring shopping cheat sheets!

Today I have for you the latest and greatest in shorts for this spring!  There are some great new silhouettes (think very pulled together and dressy shorts), some great new patterns (stripes, florals, etc) and some super fun colors showing up at my favorite retailers this spring.  I usually tend towards white, denim, navy or black shorts and those styles are definitely sticking around as well. As far as shorts go this season, there is a little something for everyone!

Check out my tops picks and how to style them… what are your favorite trends for shorts this spring or summer?

spring trends 2014: fresh dresses!

Each spring I break down the best of the trends I love for the season and lay it all out right here on the blog for you. Over the coming weeks you'll get a peek at the trends I am loving for spring and tons of tips on how to style those trends as well. Consider these posts your spring shopping cheat sheets!

Today I am featuring spring's fresh crop of dresses.  Nothing says spring like snatching up a new dress or two - or digging out your favorites from last season - and bearing those legs with a pair of sandals!  A new dress or two can breath new life and style into your wardrobe and can always be worn a ton of different ways.  Here I chose a simple navy dress (totally on my spring wish list) and a striped dress as a back drop to some amazing outfits.

Do you love spring dresses too? How do you plan to style yours?

spring trends 2014: ankle strap shoes!

Each spring I break down the best of the trends I love for the season and lay it all out right here on the blog for you.  Over the coming weeks you'll get a peek at the trends I am loving for spring and tons of tips on how to style those trends as well. Consider these posts your spring shopping cheat sheets!

Today I am featuring ankle strap shoes… and you must be hiding under a rock if you haven't seen these all over the place lately.  From sandals, to pumps to pointy toe flats it seems like every shoe has a fun ankle strap these days!  They are super easy and comfortable to wear (who's clumsy like me and can easily trip in a flip flop!?!? Come on now gals, I can't be alone).

Here I chose a few of my favorites and styled them up.  Shoe trends for this spring are definitely trending towards neutrals… there seems to be less of the bold and colorful sandals and flats that we have seen in years past and a lot more browns and black.  Ultra neutral means super versatile, so pick up a pair or two of these great styles for spring and wear them with EVERYTHING in your closet.  This style is perfect for laid back spring and summer looks or for dressing up a bit.  Are you loving this style like I am this spring?

Do you plan on adding a pair of ankle strap shoes this spring? I just ordered a pair of sandals (even though sandal season is long off!) that I can't wait to wear!

spring trends 2014: pastels!

Today marks the kick off of spring here on the blog! I can't resist it any longer and since I am prepping my wardrobe for spring (and spring break) I am hoping you are doing the same and we can work on our spring wardrobes together. Each spring I break down the best of the trends I love for the season and lay it all out right here on the blog for you.  Over the coming weeks you'll get a peek at the trends I am loving for spring and tons of tips on how to style those trends as well.

Look no further… I've got your spring style covered for you!  Your spring shopping will now be infinitely easier, promise.

Pastels for spring are a total no-brainer. Why invent the wheel when you can reach for the tried and true (and pretty!) pastel styles that are popping up in all your favorite stores.  Pale pink, lavender, mint, baby blue, peach and more are all topping my list for some of the best spring buys out there.  Pastels pair effortless with navy so make that a combo you go back to time and time again.  And if you are looking for more easy ways to style pastels for spring or this is a new element to your wardrobe that you haven't tried before then pair it with your basics like a denim/chambray top or stripes.  For a business casual look trying pairing pastels with black for a graphic and spring-ready look.  This spring pastels will feel instantly at home in your closet and you will love the fresh feel they offer to any outfit.

12 spring scarves you want!

Before we know it here in the North we will finally be able to ditch the heavy winter scarves (you Southerners… I know you have already, you lucky ducks!) in exchange for light, bright and airy scarves! And for that I will be rejoicing!

A spring scarf is an inexpensive way to add a splash of color or texture to any outfit AND to ward off the chilly mornings and evenings that spring still hands us from time to time. One of my favorite looks for spring is always a simple tee, a scarf, jeans and flats. I don't think I will ever tire of that simple formula.  Here I pulled together a few of the favorites I have been finding around the web lately.  I love their airy feel, spring-y colors and simple style.

I picked up a few new spring scarves recently that I can't wait to wear once the weather warms up.  Do you have your eye on any spring scarves? Do tell!

#thinkspring

With March arriving in 5 days (oh yeah!) I am changing my mind set to spring. It's official. Sure we have another month or so of winter (blah) but I don't care.  I've been trying to dress more spring like (see here) albeit while still trying to stay warm and my spring wardrobe planning has begun as well.  Who's with me?

Next week I plan on starting a spring trend series here on the blog… but in the meantime, here are a few beauties I've found around the internet lately that definitely have me thinking spring!

What has you thinking spring lately?

spring obsession: blush pink!

I am eternally drawn to pink… all shades, all brightnesses, all of it.  Usually I go for the "Barbie" pinks - bright and bold. But this season I am totally into neutrals (I think I may have mentioned that before… like a million times, right?!).  Lucky for me there is the perfect pink for neutral lovers like myself this season… the softest and sweetest hue of pink is popping up everywhere and I am officially obsessed.

Pastels are always big for spring, but this spring blush pink seems to really be having a moment.  I can definitely see myself pairing this gorgeous color with jeans, white and black.  It's a flirty and feminine neutral that I really look forward to adding to my closet this spring.

What about you… are you loving this color for spring as well?  Right now I am ready to go overboard and just snatch up all these gorgeous pieces!

fresh finds under $50 to get you excited for spring!

I don't think we need much at this point to get us excited for spring - it's a quite natural occurrence this time of year.  But if we did/do… spring clothes usually do the trick!  This is the time of year that I start irrationally shopping for pastels, tees, tanks and shorts… even though there are a few months until any of it will be worn.  Come to think of it… I do this in the summer sometimes in preparation for fall.  It's a  bad habit, I know.

Today I pulled together 12 fresh pieces for spring that are all under $50.  I haven't officially started making a spring wish list yet… but I do know it will involved some brights, some pastels and some great neutrals as well.  These pieces are definitely getting me inspired for spring shopping and warmer temperatures!

Have you started your spring wish list yet? Or your spring shopping! Fess up!
