good LOOK for less: Alison, her husband's turning 40!

Alison of My Little Happy Place emailed me recently to get some ideas flowing for an outfit for her husband's 40th birthday soiree... she had fallen in love with this little number from Heidi Merrick (how could you not?) but not it's price tag. She also wanted to have a wedge heel seeing as the big event would be held outdoors (who likes heels falling into grass or dirt, not me! Or Alison for that matter...).

It was fun to collaborate with Alison on this and get some brainstorming going...

This was my first jab at the Heidi Merrick dress... the closest I could find on a reasonable budget. I love this ensemble, but Alison was too afraid the color was too washed out.

The next outfit I put together was along the lines of the deep orange-y color of the inspiration dress but in a different color that is hot, hot, hot for fall. Purple. Alison loved the dress... but unfortunately we realized it was no longer available! Rats! Alison did however think that the gold ruffled wedges were a keeper... so we continued on.

Another ensemble I pulled together was a bit out of left field from the Heidi Merrick dress... but a girl has to have options, right!?!?

In the end we decided on this ensemble... a mix of the purple dress' features with a close match to the Heidi Merrick color... of course with the ruffled wedge.
