more fall boots...

I know I have already blogged about boots this fall... but really, is it just me or is there an abundance of fall boots this season that are highly covetable this season!?!? And not to mention that the weather is getting much more hospitable for actually wearing boots. In fact in the coming days I will be likely wearing only boots for a while as we are prepping for a serious cool down here in Michigan.

Here are a few (more) of my ultimate favorites... really, how gorgeous are these selections? Too, too pretty.

So tell me, have you gotten the boots out yet or what?

1. two tone knee high boots 2. brown riding boots 3. brown high heel boots - really loving these despite the price tag! 4. black riding boots 5. metal toe ankle boots 6. flat ankle boots 7. stacked heel suede ankle boots 8. black flat boots 9. suede low boots - I just ordered these, can't wait to check them out! 10. black stacked ankle boot

p.s. I'm cleaning out my closet and have a few things listed on Poshmark - check it out here!  I will add more items soon as there is a huge pile of clothes on the floor in my closet that need to go!

20 gorgeous fall handbags!

What is your handbag style? Printed? Solid? Leather? Tote? Satchel? Clutch? Cross-body? Do tell!

If there is any one item in my closet that I have the most fun buying it has to be handbags.  I like to make investments in gorgeous classic bags that I know I will love for years to come or experiment in patterns and colors when I can find a great deal that I know I will have fun carrying or accessorizing with my outfit.

I'm partial to leather when shopping for a handbag, especially if I can find it for a great price... but there are plenty of non-leather handbags as well that are fabulous as well!  Here I rounded up 20 fall handbags starting at only $68 and reaching all price points.  Any of these little pretties would make a great addition to your closet (or mine!) this fall, don't you think?

it's back to boots season! (the fall boot report)

Boot season is almost here and to make sure you are ready for boot season I rounded up the best of the best for fall right here just for you.  I look forward to bringing out my boots each and every fall and this year I will be bringing out my tall and ankle boots that I invested in last year and also hopefully invest in a new pair or two as well.

Classic boot styles like the tall riding boot are back this season again... so if you invested in a pair last year, bring those out again! Or if you still need a pair now is the time to invest in a pair, remember classic styles like a riding boot will last several seasons so it's worth spending a little more money on them!  Ankle boots are back as well with new silhouettes and styles... I wore ankle boots A LOT last season and am excited to see them back.  I'm really loving ankle boots in subtle fall colors like grey and burgundy.

What boot styles are you most excited about this season?

how to style a camo jacket for fall!

Welcome back from a nice long weekend... I hope you enjoyed yours! Mine was quite lazy... sleeping in, lounging and general relaxation before we dive into an action packed back to school week here! How was your weekend?

I'm so excited to dive into fall fashion around here... which we have been doing a little of from time to time, but now that my kids are back in school I am in full on fall mode (apple pie anyone?).  The temps are a still a little warm but the nights and evenings are cool. September is one of the best months ever... wouldn't you agree?

Last fall I snagged a camo jacket from Zara (seen here) which was going out on a limb a bit for me style-wise.  And I am glad I did as it's a fun print that is still enjoying it's time in the spotlight.  At first glance camo can seem to be a more masculine print, which is fine if you are enjoying boy-inspired style - which is also having a moment in the spotlight this fall. But here I tried to find the perfect balance between femininity and the camo print with two looks for fall that you will love!

Over the past week and a half I have dished on simple and stylish trends to try for this upcoming fall season... it's been a great series that I know has inspired my own plans for fall style and I hope it has inspired you as well.  Here I am wrapping up the series with a quick overview.

All of the posts can be found here... be sure to take a look at them before you start your fall shopping.

Now comes the big question... I want to know which trend you would ADD to this list? I came up with seven trends... what would you add as the eighth?  Leave a comment to share... I can't wait to hear your ideas!

polka dots (check out all the polka dot looks here!)
tweed (check out all the tweed looks here!)
'fancy' sweatshirts (check out all the sweatshirt looks here!)
peter pan collar (check out all the peter pan collar looks here!)
pointed flats (check out all the pointed flats looks here!)
denim (check out all the denim looks here!)
burgundy (check out all the burgundy looks here!)

Okay... now what is the one trend to try that you would add to the list? What did I miss? What are you excited to try new for this fall?

Let me know!

fall trends to try: pointed flats!

It's the most WONDERFUL time of the year around the blog these days as I kick off the "fall trends to try" series!!!! This is one of my all time favorite blog series' and while it has evolved over the years, it is still designed and brought to you to do two major things for you this fall: 1) clue you in on what I think are the easiest and most stylish trends to try this fall season and 2) give you tons of tips and tricks on how to style these trends for everyday wear.

For the next few weeks this blog will be all-fall-all-the-time and when we are done you (and I) will have a firm plan for our fall style and back to school shopping (if that applies to you!). If you are like me, you absolutely love to comb the magazines, blogs and catalogs this time of year to see what the new trends are going to be for the season (or if you don't love that... don't worry, I'll do all the work for you!). However, I kept finding each season that the trends that the magazines and runways were predicting were just NOT suitable for my lifestyle as a busy mom (or for that matter... most everyday gorgeous ladies!). It left me bummed and discouraged. So instead of lamenting I just figured I would chart out my own trends for the season based on what I was seeing and loving in the stores, blogs, catalogs, etc and report them here to you. How easy is that?

There are just a few more trends that I will be covering in this series... it's so sad to see it come to a close!  Today's trend is pointed flats. I've long been a fan of pointed flats and this season I couldn't be more thrilled that they seem to be everywhere.  Pointed flats are classic, ultra flattering and quickly add a sophisticated feel to any look.

Here I chose my favorite picks and styled them up!

fall trends to try: peter pan collar!

How easy is that?

Today's trend is the PETER PAN COLLAR!  This flirty and feminine collar has slowly built up to almost cult status for fall.  It's easy to wear in that is has a "dressed up" vibe for little to no effort.  Here I chose my favorite peter pan collar pieces for fall (and also a fun sparkly necklace to make any top a peter pan-style top!) and styled them into a couple of simple and sweet looks for fall.  I would love to hear your thoughts on this trend for fall... will you be adding a peter pan collared top to your closet anytime soon? Do you already own a few that you will be transitioning to fall?

fall trends to try: tweed!

So instead of lamenting I just figured I would chart out my own trends for the season based on what I was seeing and loving in the stores, blogs, catalogs, etc and report them here to you. How easy is that?

The trend that I am featuring today is TWEED!  Tweed is classic and sophisticated and the best part is you can own just one or two pieces and you are totally set in the tweed department.  Jackets, skirts, dresses and even some fun new tweed t-shirts are all cropping up in stores this season and they add great texture and class to any look!

Another fun tip is that "boucle" is a fabric that looks very similar to tweed. It's like tweed's little sister... they look similar enough to pass for one another and boucle has a slightly lower price point.  So here I snuck in a few "boucle" pieces as well!  Keep in mind that due to the quality and intricacy of tweed, these pieces are going to be on the "investment" side of pricing.

As usual I picked out a few of my favorites and then styled them up in a few fun looks for fall! I hope you enjoy these looks. Do you plan on picking up any new tweed pieces this fall? I would love to know!

fall trends to try: the denim report!

So instead of lamenting I just figured I would chart out my own trends for the season based on what I was seeing and loving in the stores, blogs, catalogs, etc and report them here to you. How easy is that?

Today's trend features a full report on what is hot with denim this season. While it's hard to say that denim is "trending" this fall - because it usually is a must-have each fall season - I will say that denim seems to have a stronger presence in the fall style season than in years past.  The bright denim colors of previous seasons are being replaced by more moody textures and subdued tints.  Denim this year is all about subtle texture and sophistication.

Patterns like a relaxed camo or a hint of floral pattern or even new textures like wax coated denim (a new favorite of mine!) are taking center stage for fall fashion.  In addition we are seeing a disappearance of a low-rise denim in exchange for a much more flattering mid-rise.  I know I love the body hugging mid-rise style much more than a body spilling low-rise jean.  Here I featured a few of my favorite styles this season and then styled a few into outfits as well.

What new denim trends are you most excited about this season? I'd love to know!

(above, from left top: black waxed denim - just bought these and LOVE them!), camo jeans, zip back jeans - seen here!, floral print jeans, distressed jeans, denim jacket, denim top

fall trends to try: 'fancy' sweatshirts!

It's the most WONDERFUL time of the year around the blog these days as I kick off the "fall trends to try" series!!!! Today's trend is sweatshirts... and no, not the frumpy ones you still have left hanging around from college or the one you got on last years vacation to Florida.  No, these are a serious upgrade from the standard sweatshirt. They are encrusted with jewels, feature slim flattering fits or are embroidered with lace and other fun embellishments.  They add a certain casual feel to an outfit that can easily be made to feel dressed up (but still very comfortable!) with the right accessories!!

I'd love to know... will you be putting one of these sweatshirts on your fall shopping list?

fall trends to try: polka dots!

Today's trend to try for fall is polka dots!  It's not the dots your toddler daughter or Minnie Mouse wear... these dots are sophisticated and subtle while still adding a touch of fun and whimsy to your fall looks.   Here I chose a few fun dotty pieces for fall and styled them up.  Are you game for dots this season? If so, what piece here could you see yourself wearing?

Stay tuned all week... there will be so many more fall trends to try that you will love!
