old navy finds for winter!

I've got some really fun finds from Old Navy today for you all. I always love their festive holiday inspired pieces and winter items this time of year. From cozy coats to fair isle and plaid they have SO many cute options right now... let's take a look at some of the fun items I found!

Sizing: True to size, I'm in my usual size small.
Thoughts: I absolutely LOVE this sweater. I'm a sucker for fair isle and this one is so pretty. It's very soft to the touch, no wool or itch at all. I love it with jeans and flats for everyday wear, but it would be very fun with a festive skirt and heels for a holiday party too!

Shown with: jeans, flats

puffer coat (above)
Sizing: I went down a size to XS. This coat runs big.
Thoughts: I love a cozy puffer for winter. I like that this one is a little more trendy with the cropped cut and this brown color is so popular right now. This coat is super cozy!

Shown with: jeansflats

plaid shirt (above)
Sizing: True to size. I'm in my usual size small.
Thoughts: If you love a holiday plaid, you will love this top! It's so classic! It's a nice soft flannel that isn't too thick, so it's also super flattering. I love the cream and brown tones in this one.

Shown with: jeansflats

puffer coat (above)
Sizing: Runs big, I went down a size.
Thoughts: This coat is SO good in person. It looks so much more expensive than it is! I love that it has both a zipper and snaps and has a fun double breasted cut. It also has fleece lined pockets - so dreamy!

Shown with: jeansflats

Sizing: I'm in my usual size small.
Thoughts: This is the same style as the first fair isle sweater with a different pattern. This is so gorgeous in person! I love that it works for everyday wear or can be dressed up for the holidays too. I would pair it with a fun sequin skirt or pleated skirt and a bright red lip.

Shown with: jeansflats

Sizing: I went up a size to medium.
Thoughts: I can't remember why I ordered it bigger than I usual order, but I actually love it nice and big. It's super soft and a nice weight. This will be getting lots of wear, I can tell already!

A few things I'm loving lately...

I've done a little online shopping lately where the items just didn't fit great or where some things were okay, but not great. Usually I do a try on session for most of my online shopping but there was a lot I felt "meh" about. Not bad, just not overwhelmingly amazing. Today I thought I would just do a quick round up of a few pieces I've recently purchased that I really, really love. The greatest hits, if you will!

These pieces were instant favorites - the kind you pull out of the box and can't wait to wear! And while a typical "try on session" is me trying on items for the first time, these are items I have already worn and they pass the "wear it for a day" (or more) test.  Let's take a look at the pieces...

(above) straight jeans (shop them: here or here) & striped sweater
Sizing: I always go with my bigger size for this brand. They have a bit of stretch. For the sweater I would say it runs small, I went up a size to a medium.
Thoughts: I love these jeans and wanted a pair with no distressing in a classic straight leg. These are comfortable, suck you in *just right* and are right on trend without being overly trendy. I love them. This sweater is a great Amazon find. It's soft (no itch) and the stripes, buttons and delicate balloon sleeves are so 'French girl chic' in an everyday kind of way. It's *chefs kiss* perfection at a great price.
Shown with: clogs

Sizing: Sweater runs a little big, I am in my usual size small. You could size down if between sizes. Mules are true to size, maybe a touch small, but I went with my usual size.
Thoughts: This sweater is SO soft and cozy. It's not super heavy so it's the perfect balance between cozy and lightweight. I've worn it a few times and just LOVE it. I am always looking for a great pair of mules and this pair is gorgeous. I loved the gathered leather and the pointy toe. They are easy to wear and instantly make an outfit feel pulled together.
Shown with: jeans (or similar)

Sizing: The sweatshirt runs true to size, I'm in my usual size small. The sneakers run a bit big, I went down a half size.
Thoughts: This sweatshirt was a favorite last year, I also own it in grey and I LOVE it. When I saw this new mauve/brown color I had to have it! This is a staple for weekends or the gym over tanks when it's cool out. It's great for walks or errands - it's an all around AMAZING piece. I highly recommend. These sneakers are made from recycled scarps of leather - isn't that so cool? They are fun with leggings or joggers or even with jeans. I've worn these quite a bit over the past couple of weeks!

madewell try ons for fall!

I've said it a bunch, but nothing beats Madewell for fall and winter. I just LOVE their cozy sweaters and gorgeous fall hues. They do this season SO well. Right now you can get 20% off your order of $100 or 30% off your order of $200 or more on select items. I always love to shop a sale from Madewell - it's definitely the best time to buy!

I found some really beautiful fall pieces that I can't wait to share with you...  sweater weather has definitely arrived in my neck of the woods so I'm excited to dig in with some of these new arrivals.

Sizing: I went with my usual size small. It's definitely a more shrunken fit. If you prefer a more oversized fit I would suggest going up a size.
Thoughts: This sweater is SO beautiful in person. WOW. The details are just stunning. The sweater is grey with small flecks of color making it extremely unique. This sweater is so "fall" to me and for some reason makes me think of Thanksgiving. Wouldn't this be gorgeous for Thanksgiving?

Shown with: jeans, clogs

(above & below) cream mockneck sweater
Sizing: True to size, I went with my usual size small. If you wanted a more oversized fit, you could go up one size.
Thoughts: This mockneck with the knitted v-neck pattern is a popular one this year. I have a similar one from Everlane that I love - although the Madewell version is a better price. This sweater is stretchy and cozy and and instant classic.

Shown with: jeansclogs

(above & below) striped top
Sizing: Runs a little oversized. I'm wearing my usual size small.
Thoughts: This top is GORGEOUS in person. It's a super thick t-shirt material that has really great structure while still being very comfortable and easy to wear. It's featured in my October Capsule if you want more inspiration on how to style it.

Shown with: jeans or jeans, mules

(above & below) rust open front cardigan
Sizing: I went down a size. This cardigan runs big. I'm wearing XS.
Thoughts: I just LOVE this color this season so this was an instant favorite for me. It's lightweight but warm and works over tees and tanks for fall. I highly recommend.

Shown with: striped top, jeans or jeansmules

(above & below) brown sweatshirt
Sizing: True to size, I am in my usual size small. You could go up a size for more room too.
Thoughts: I just LOVE this sweatshirt. I own the same one in grey from a few seasons ago. It's a great classic. This brown is so pretty and on trend for fall, it's also featured in my October Capsule if you want more ideas on how to style it. It also has POCKETS which, duh, is amazing!

Shown with: leggings, birkenstocks

J.Crew sweater try on session!

Ahhhh, sweater season! My favorite season! I recently tried a few new sweaters from J.Crew... they are GORGEOUS and so fun for fall and I'm excited to share them here today. I will note that each option does have a percentage of wool in them, I am not sensitive to wool so I didn't find them to be itchy at all. If you are sensitive to wool, just know that before you shop. Again, I didn't find any of them to be uncomfortable or itchy but I know some of you are super sensitive to it.

All these sweaters are so beautiful for fall and I just love how perfectly 'J.Crew' they are - so wearable, so classic! Let's take a look...

(above & below) half zip sweater
Sizing: I went with my usual size small.
Thoughts: The half zip sweaters is a super popular style this fall and I love that it's both right on trend while still being super classic. It works with jeans or joggers (a great athleisure combo!) and I love how it layers with jackets too (shown below).

Styled with: jeansmules, jacket (runs big, I went down a size)

(above & below) turtleneck sweater
Sizing: True to size, I am in my usual size small.
Thoughts: This is an instant classic! Super soft and stretchy and I just love a good turtleneck for fall and winter. This one is available in SO many colors so there are lots of fun options and I love the boxy cut.

Styled with: jeans, clogs

(above & below) cable knit stretch wool
Sizing: I went with my usual size small.
Thoughts: This piece is SO beautiful in person. It's a gorgeous dusty grey with a tiny little pleat at the shoulders for a feminine cut. This sweater is super soft and stretchy and while I usually go for more oversized sweaters I found this one to be perfectly fitted.

Styled with: jeans, loafers

(above & below) puff sleeve sweater
Sizing: I went with my usual size small and while I love the puff sleeves I think the torso is a little to fitted. I would have preferred a medium.
Thoughts: I adore the puff sleeves here, but the sizing on this one is off for me. It's just too tight at my abdomen/stomach area. I prefer something that hides that spot a little more for me. But I love this color and the sleeves are just adorable.

Styled with: jeansclogs, headband

j.crew factory try on session!

Today I've got some gorgeous fall finds from J.Crew Factory... these pieces are all SO classic, I think you will really love them. And I have to say this is my first time putting on a scarf in a while and wow, it sure was cozy! Doesn't exactly make me excited for colder weather, but it softens the blow at least a little. I hope you love these J.Crew Factory finds...

(above & below) sweater blazer/cardigan
Sizing: This piece runs big, I went down a size to XS.
Thoughts: This piece is just gorgeous in person. It's more cardigan than blazer in my opinion, but still looks very refined and pulled together. The fabric is soft (no itch) and looks structured while still being drapey and beautiful. I highly recommend this piece!

(above & below) ribbed sweater
Sizing: True to size, I am in my usual size small.
Thoughts: This sweater is SO soft (omg!) and I love the soft ribbed pattern with the balloon sleeve detail. It's just beautiful! What a cozy piece for fall!

Shown with: similar jeans, mules

(above & below) black striped sweatshirt
Sizing: Runs big and fits long. I went down a size to XS. Perfect length with leggings.
Thoughts: J.Crew Factory had this piece last year and I ordered it and it was huge and sent it back and never re-ordered. It's such a classic that I couldn't resist picking it up this year. It's the perfect off-duty sweatshirt with jeans or leggings or joggers. I love the button detail on the neck and it's available in lots of colors.

(above & below) headband & plaid scarf

Thoughts: I just LOVE both of these. The scarf is so classic for fall and winter and I love this color way which is so unique for plaid scarves. This scarf is available in lots of patterns too, so if you wanted a more traditional plaid you can definitely find it! I love wearing headbands but so many of mine are for spring and summer. I love that this one is neutral and perfect for fall!

Shown with: similar jeansmules, coat and similar coat

(above) camp socks
I just LOVE these socks... I'm a little bit of a fanatic about them. They always sell out super quickly each season so I like to grab a few pairs early. J.Crew has a similar version that are usually thicker, but I love this more mid-weight option too. They are perfect for chilly evenings around the house and are a must have when I wear winter boots for cold and snowy weather. They make great gifts for the holiday season too!

Old Navy try on session!

Today I have some fun finds for fall from Old Navy... I love sweaters for fall and tend to gravitate straight towards them once September hits. But Old Navy has tons of great fall pieces right now that aren't sweaters... blouses, dresses and fun tops that I think you all will love. I've always loved Old Navy and this fall their selection is very fun! Let's take a look at a few of the pieces I found...

rust mockneck sweatshirt (above & below)
Sizing: True to size, I went up a size to medium for a more oversized fit.
Thoughts: I "needed" a few new sweatshirts for fall since many of my were from 2020 (the year that shall not be named) and quite frankly I'm ready to ditch those and put a few new ones in the rotation. I love the color on this one, so on trend! And the mock neck and pocket detail are great. Old Navy does sweatshirts really well and this one is perfect for wearing with joggers for an athleisure look. It would be cute with jeans too!
Shown with: joggers (I went down a size), similar sneakers

long sleeve t-shirt dress (above & below)
Sizing: I went down a size to XS.
Thoughts: I'm not much of a "fall dress" person. I tend to wear dresses more in spring and summer. This fall dresses seem to be really 'hot' and on trend. This t-shirt dress is perfect for warm fall days and I love this mauve/brown color. I really love it with a denim jacket for a bit more shape to the look.

Sizing: Runs true to size, I am in my usual size small.
Thoughts: This top is SO cute for fall. I love the button detail and puff sleeves. If you are looking for a blouse for zoom calls or for the office this is it! If you are looking for a fall-ish top for when the weather is warm, this is it! It's so versatile!

rust brown blouse (above & below)
Sizing: Runs a little big. I went with my usual size small but you could size down if between sizes.
Thoughts: This is my favorite piece in the bunch! It's GORGEOUS in person and so pretty for fall. Talk about fall feels and fall vibes. I adore it! This is another piece that could work for zoom calls or the office, but works just as well with jeans for everyday wear too.
Shown with: jeans, clogs

black dress (above)
Sizing: True to size, I am in my usual size small.
Thoughts: If you are looking for a 'dressier' dress than the one above for fall, maybe for the office or if you are a teacher, this one is SO cute! It's has a tiny puff sleeve, an empire waist and pockets! All in a cozy t-shirt material that is the perfect weight to still make it very flattering.
Shown with: mules

madewell try on session!

I always get SO excited for Madewell's fall new arrivals. They do fall SO well and I always love their sweaters and jeans. Today I've got some really great staples for fall that I can't wait to show you. We are in one more warm burst of weather, but it looks like after this little stretch we should be in some prime fall weather. I can't wait to dive into sweaters and jackets and layers...

Let's take a look at some of the pieces I found and my honest thoughts on them...

I will say in advance that I ordered these fatigue pants and they just didn't work. They are very oversized and didn't fit and even if they did fit aren't a super flattering cut for me personally. I never know whether or not to include the "flops" but for today's post I just didn't feel like including them.

military shirt jacket (above & below)
Sizing: Runs big, I went down a size to XS.
Thoughts: I thought this was more of a jacket with a cinched waist... which is hilarious because it's actually called a "shirt jacket" and I missed that somehow. I don't love the shirt jacket trend because I like a more defined waist with this style of jacket. But despite all that (user error!) I actually like it. I still need to decide if I would wear it enough without a defined waist. I really like the overall fit though. It's a little oversized and works great for layering.

Shown with: sweaterjeans, clogs

Sizing: Sweater is true to size, I'm in my usual size small. Jeans run big, I went down a size.
Thoughts: This sweater is such a classic Madewell piece. It's a great early fall staple in a gorgeous textured knit. It's the perfect weight too, not too light but not heavy either. It's also NO itch because it has no wool. Let's talk about these jeans... I got these earlier this summer and I LOVE them so they are worth mentioning again. They are the perfect straight leg jeans if you are new to straight leg jeans. They feel like skinny jeans with just a tiny straight leg opening so they are very easy to wear. I highly recommend both these pieces.

Shown with: clogs

alpaca cardigan & demi boot jeans (above & below)
Sizing: Sweater runs big, I went down a size to XS. Jeans run big, I went down a size.
Thoughts: This sweater is SO dreamy. I'm obsessed. The fabric is so soft and airy but warm and the buttons are so pretty. I just adore this look for fall. These jeans I LOVE. The wash is great and I like the distressed hem. There are a few things I'm deciding if I like (haha!) the length is longer which I know is a little more on trend but as a shorter person (5'4) I am still deciding if that works for me and secondly they don't have much stretch. I realllllly love a stretch jean so I have to decide if these will work for me without the stretch.

Shown with: clogs

cream cardigan (above & below)
Sizing: True to size, I'm in my usual size small.
Thoughts: Madewell does cardigans SO well. This one is gorgeous with the tortoise buttons and a nice side slit. The fabric is super unique, it's a thinner knit that feels a little like sweatshirt. It's very soft and stretchy. This is a great fall staple and not too thick if you live somewhere where it's warmer.

Shown with: jeans, tankclogs

Sizing: These jeans run big with lots of stretch. I went down to my smaller size.
Thoughts: After striking out with the distressed pair of jeans in this post I reordered this pair and LOVE them. They are super stretchy but also flattering and the tiny flare at the bottom is perfectly modern without being overly trendy. I adore these jeans!
