my everyday style: classic fall!

What season is better than fall?!?! I mean really. For me, nothing beats it… I drive around my neighborhood absolutely giddy at the leaves on the ground or fluttering to the ground. There is nothing as beautiful as Michigan in the fall. The air is crisp but sweet and all of nature is showing off.  This past weekend we were in St. Louis and the weather was gorgeous - 70s and 80s with full sun.  But when we came home Sunday night I was almost sad that I had missed three full days of fall in Michigan.  It's like I can't stand missing one sweet moment.  It's so, so good.   This fall seems to be an especially nice one… most of the leaves are still on the tress and the weather is quite warm - but still cool enough for a sweater or an extra layer or pair of boots.

This outfit is classic fall to me… simple and casual layers with a great pair of jeans and boots.  I love that we can wear our cool weather clothes… but without the side of frost bite and snow (it's coming though!).

my everyday style: summer into fall with lace!

Well, it's officially fall in my book - the kids are tucked away at school (finally!), gobs of last minute summer fun was had this past weekend and reality has hit that it's back to the grind for another 9 months (omg, that is so depressing… let's not think about that!).   But that doesn't meant the weather is exactly cooperating with the "fall" state of mind.  But no worries, who wants to bundle up in scarves and boots already!?!? I love the transitional season when you can grab the best of each season and pull together an outfit.

Lace is the perfect transitional piece from summer to fall. It's not overly warm to wear and it's great to layer with.  Here I layered this fall's ultimate staple - the army vest - with a simple lace top and voila! It's perfect for September's warm afternoons and cool mornings.

my everyday style: striped dress combo!

Who me in stripes? I know… monumental. This is the thing. I just wear the stuff I like, not the clothes that I think people will ohh and ahh over.  I don't pull a lot of punches with clothes. I just like what is comfortable and what is easy to wear.  That is not going to make me the most popular blogger but I hope it makes me a relatable one.

I seriously try to keep these outfit photos super real.  As a blogger I have found that it can be easy to try and over do it with the photos or to make my outfits into something ultra styled and nothing like what I would wear in real life.  Or to buy a bunch of new clothes to keep the photos fresh.  But that's just not me. This dress is over a year old - I've worn it here and here - and this vest is from last fall.  But the reason I show outfits here on the blog is to show you that a dress from two springs ago and a fall vest can be remixed into a great new summer look.
