New H&M at Macomb Mall + a GIVEAWAY!

Who doesn't love a trip to H&M!?!?  Especially when a new one opens right in your neighborhood!  A new H&M is opening in the Macomb Mall here in Michigan - which isn't my neighborhood, but it might be yours!  If you are in the area be sure to stop by the Macomb Mall tomorrow, October 22 at noon for the Grand Opening!  The new store will feature 20,000 square feet men's, women's and children's fashions including beauty and accessories.  So there will definitely be something for the whole family!

I remember when the H&M opened a few years ago here in Grand Rapids it was a SUPER fun event and one that I am so glad I was able to attend.  There was a dj, dance parties and tons of giveaways.  H&M will be giving away a t-shirt and an Access to Fashion Pass (valued at $20 - $200!) to the first 200 people in line.  So get there early and get ready to party and shop!

#BleachInYourBest with Clorox + a giveaway!

I have this thing with white for my home… I'm kind of obsessed with it.  White sofas, white sheets, white towels… if it comes in white, I have it or want it.  But with two busy kids and I'll be honest a sometimes-klutzy-self my whites need a little (or a lot) of help staying that way.

But like any obsession it has it's ups and downs.  Who wants to be bleaching sheets and towels (or let's be frank… toilet bowls) in your good clothes when there is a chance for spilling or splashing.  Not me!!  But I also don't have the time to be switching into "yucky clothes" just to get a few household chores done mid-day.  And yes, I have paid the price.  Bleach stains on my favorite black top or worse on my designer jeans are in my not-so-distant past.

So when Clorox sent over their new Clorox Control products my interest was instantly piqued.  Clorox challenged me to 'Bleach in My Best' clothes like my favorite little black dress without the stress of ruining it. Using either the Clorox Control Bleach Crystals (solid form) or Bleach Packs (pre-packaged bleach bombs) I didn't have to worry about splashing or spilling or staining while using bleach!  I was instantly sold.

The Clorox Control Bleach Crystals are a handy solid-form bleach that is water activated.  You can add them right to the washing machine drum with sheets and towels or shake them into a toilet bowl to clean and brighten (both methods of which I have tried and loved!).  The Clorox Control Bleach Packs - my personal favorite - are pre-measured water-activated pouches of bleach powder that completely dissolve in water but are safe to the touch.  I have popped these babies right into the wash with my sheets and towels on multiple occasions and voila - whiter whites with no mess!  (Please remember parents to always keep cleaning products away from children!)

Beautycounter Giveaway!

In the past year I have become more and more diligent about ridding my life and our household of toxic chemicals as best I can. my everyday style: wardrobe foundations (+ a giveaway)!

Classic wardrobe pieces are the foundations of our closets AND our everyday outfits.  Lately I've been trying to focus more on the foundations… both acquiring them and wearing them on a regular basis.  The more I do this, the more I find getting dressed easier each morning.  I know I talk a lot about "making getting dressed easy" - sometimes I feel like a broken record - but really the easier it is to get dressed each morning, the better I feel all day.  When what I am wearing fits great and feels great it's less trips in and out of the closet each morning and less second guessing ourselves.  Do you feel the same?

Do you like road trips? I'm not a huge fan... I mean, in theory I like them... but in practice - not so much.  Being in the car all the time makes me so sleepy and groggy.  For Thanksgiving we drove about 2 1/2 hours to the East side of the state to spend the day with my in-laws. I always like seeing family... I just hate getting there.

The other tricky part is what to wear... I want to be festive for the occasion, but comfortable for the car, you know?  I decided on this drapey top from Zara (that I also wore for the gifting photoshoot for the winter & holiday looks:book!) and my fav pair of skinny jeans.

I'm always so cold in the car too so I packed a cozy scarf and socks - I just slipped off my flats and slipped on socks for the ride.  I don't know why I didn't think of that like 10 years ago.  And for some added festive-ness I wore my new shoe clips from ban.do! I'm SO smitten with them - they completely dress up this very old pair of flats that I almost sent to Goodwill (good thing I didn't!)

We like to listen to plenty of This American Life podcasts too (much to the kids dismay). What are your tricks for staying cozy and comfy for long car rides?
