Today my daughter is taking over the blog again with more back to school prep tips! If you missed her first post - be sure to check that post out, she talks all about the FIRST step to make sure you are back to school ready. Today in part two of her blog take over she's talking the next big step in making sure you are properly prepped for back to school season. And that step is, of course, the shopping!
Today we are chatting back to school shopping, thoughts on heading to middle school and tween style with my daughter A!
Me: So be honest... are you ready for school to start again or not?
A: No I am not - the summer went by way too fast!
Me: Anything that will soften the blow of back to school season?
A: Shopping for back to school is always fun and makes me feel more excited to go back. For me, I get excited about new clothes. So new clothes for school is something to look forward to.
Me: Tell me your thoughts on starting middle school. Are you scared? Excited? Both? Other?
A: I'm nervous about starting middle school because it's a bigger school and there will be so many different teachers to get to know. But I am excited to make new friends and feeling more grown up than at my last school.
Me: What are you most looking forward to at the middle school?
A: Probably my exploratory classes which are a nature class, a photography class and taking French. I'm excited to try some new classes that aren't just the basics like in K-6. I think it will be fun.
Me: Tell me about your outfit. What's your vibe for this year at school style-wise?
A: I love these camo sneakers - they are going to be great back to school shoes. The dress, denim jacket and sneaker combo is one I really like. It's a good mix of "fashion" with athletic style. Athletic style is my favorite. I've also heard there is a lot of homework in middle school so this extra-large backpack will help. My vibe this year is trendy mixed with athletic wear.
Me: Do you think your style will change in middle school?
A: No. I like my style right now and want to continue it!
Me: Anything else to add?
A: Don't get your school supplies too late. One year we went to the store too late and there was no good folder and notebook options left - I like the folders that are cute to inspire me during the day and those sell out the quickest.
Walmart has all the back to school pieces your kids want and need this year! Key basics like sneakers (matching sneakers are optional, but highly recommended!), backpacks, easy dresses and layering pieces like this denim jacket are so cute and affordable. My daughter's entire look is under $75 - head to toe! Plus you can snag all the markers, folders and pencils you will need to stock up on without even leaving the house... which is a total win in my book! And like my daughter said... it's better to shop for those items early because the good stuff always tends to sell out quickly!
