My home tour continues today featuring our master bedroom with a little help from Walmart.com! If you rewind almost two years ago when we moved into this house we brought all the furniture and the light fixture from the master bedroom in our previous home and plopped it in this bedroom. It all fit and looked great, but I never really styled anything... or filled in some of the massive "holes" in the decor that resulted from moving from a small bedroom in our previous home to a quite large bedroom in our current home. It was always on the "to-do" list to spruce the room up a bit at some point. But I just hadn't made time for it. We just got brand new carpet laid in the entire second floor of our home (including this room) at the beginning of June and so my goal became to finally FINISH the room once the carpet went in. Then Walmart.com approached me about sharing their new shop the room feature at Walmart.com here on the blog and the timing couldn't have been better!
With Walmart.com I was able to zhush, spruce, fluff and finalize our bedroom using their new shop the room feature and shop by style feature and I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised at their affordable decor options! With only a small budget I found a few KEY pieces that totally transformed this room from "meh" to amazing! So let's talk about how I pulled it all together...
So like I mentioned, I already had the basics like the bed, bedding and dressers. I also had a random chair that had been floating around the house and ended up in our room (you know how that happens sometimes!??!) - so I had a solid start.
There were three major pieces on my wishlist for the room and those were: artwork, new lamps (ours were quite old and falling apart) and some type of furniture piece to fill the empty wall between the door to the room and the bathroom. Using the shop the room feature at Walmart.com I quickly found a few pieces I knew I loved for the room like this adorable pom pom blanket that is only $16 and is available in four colors and these very stylish marble-inspired lamps that were under $30 each. When it came to filling the empty wall that was on my wishlist I instantly fell in love with these gold shelves which are not only perfect for the spot but a total score at only $129! I mean, can you believe what a bargain that is? When I saw these small, medium and large gold geo sculptures at the store I knew those had to come home with me as well. Lastly I had purchased the digital download of this artwork ages ago meaning to put it in the room but I hadn't got around to printing them yet. But of course, Walmart.com saved the day again when I was able to get the artwork printed at the photo center (I chose matte in a 20x30, but the options are endless!) and still stay within my budget.
Here's the final budget breakdown:
gold shelves - $129
blanket - $16
lamps - $60 ($29 each)
artwork printed at the photo center - $40 (or $19 each print)
Total spent: about $270 (plus tax)
And 2-day FREE shipping is available for almost of these pieces as well!
So now let's get to the good part! Here's the room finally complete! I couldn't be happier with the outcome. Keep in mind whatever room you would like to decorate in your home you can easily use the Walmart.com shop the room feature OR they have an equally impressive shop by style feature here. Both of these were a huge help in pulling together my master bedroom on a budget!
