my outfit: Happy Mother's Day + giveaway!

Ironies of ironies I was up half the night with a sick kid last night and today feel a) like I was up half the night with a sick kid and b) like I am getting sick now too.  My head wants to explode, I can't stop sneezing and my eyes are super itchy.  I think it's half sick and half allergies.  Which is all 'no fun.'

But a Mother's job is never over!

This morning I woke up to a steaming hot latte and pastry on my side table.  You really can't beat that.  And then this afternoon we had a picnic in our backyard that was organized fully by my husband.  It was super delicious and we all had fun together...

So while the day has been challenging and tiring on some levels - on other levels it has been pure joy. Isn't that the exact definition of motherhood? I sure would say so.

I also set out my most favorite red pants for the day... my outfit can always be depended on to brighten my day!

Now on to the giveaway... shall we!?!? The editor of TORN: True Stories of Kids, Career and the Conflict of Modern Motherhood  sent over two copies for me to giveaway! The book, as many of you all know already, contains my own short story about how I quit my job as a working mom and settled in among the stay-at-home moms.  So you will want to check out that for sure!  In addition there are SO SO many amazing stories from moms and women of all walks of life - sure to inspire you as a mom.

I have two copies and I would be thrilled to sign them as well (ha, that seems so cheesy! but in a good way!) all you have to do is this:

  • "Follow" this blog... click to follow if you don't already in the sidebar!
  • Leave a comment about one thing you do as a mother that you never thought you would (just to humor me!)
  • For an extra entry tweet about this giveaway (leave an additional comment).
  • For yet another extra entry blog about this giveaway (leave an additional comment).
  • I will leave comments open through Friday, May 13!!!
Good luck and of course, Happy Mother's Day!

Before I was a mom I used to be super critical of a friend whose 2 year old lived on chicken nuggets and blueberries...Then I had a child who would only eat, you guesed it, blueberries and chicken nuggets. Ha. I totally deserve it.

I say the phrases my mom said that I thought i would never say: "Just wait 'til your dad gets home." "You're old enough to know better." "Don't make me stop this car." :) Happy Mother's Day, everyone!

There are LOTS of things I said I would never do as a Mom that I do now, I guess I will just list one :) That is sleep with my kids, we co-sleep from birth to age 2 with our boys and always welcome them in if they need it.
Happy Mother's Day!

Love the outfit, love the giveaway! I never thought I'd raise my voice with my kids. I don't often, but sometimes a good "GET THOSE SHOES ON RIGHT THIS MINUTE" is the only thing that will do!

And I just tweeted. Wish I had a funny story about motherhood for your enjoyment.
How about this: well, one time my brother was trying to get his daughter to put on her shoes and she was throwing a fit. So, he got closer to her and said in a very stern voice, "Anna! Put on your shoes!" And she cried even more.
Then, he took a step back and whispered to my sister, "I think I stepped on her toes!" Ha ha ha!
Happy Mother's Day you supermom you!

I am excited to see the pinks. I have pink toenail polish on and really like it. I am not a mom either, aunt to more than 20 nieces and nephews though. I love reading books on this topic. Signed is great;)

Well I will be buying this even if I don't win, but a girl's gotta try, right? One thing I do that I thought I'd never do? Feed my kids hot dogs. Like, actual disgusting hot dogs, not even the organic tofu hippie hot dogs. Seriously. I have compromised all my principles. ;)

Look who got some red pants! Fun!

I would love to win a signed copy from my Jill! I follow of course. Let's see, the one thing I do as a mother that I thought I never would is be the main disciplinarian. I seriously thought Fidel would be the one to be stern and dole out the punishments, but it is the complete opposite. He hardly ever deals with the girls when they misbehave-it is all up to me! He says it's because they are girls and he just can't bring himself to do it. So I get to be the bad cop. Boo.

Oh man, who wants to admit to this stuff! Probably let my kids eat food off the floor. Not cool.

I'm a follower! Well, I swore I would not open up a package of food in the store and let my kid eat it while I was grocery shopping. Well, I totally do and am ashamed, but you gotta do what you gotta do.
