Today I pulled together simple and comfortable outfits that will be both warm and stylish for the long Midwest winters.
One simple formula for staying warm without looking overly bulky is the "big on top, small on bottom" formula. Pairing skinny jeans, leggings or in this case skinny cargos with a big bulky sweater on top. Then add a few fun accessories to keep things interesting. I just LOVE this look.
When in doubt... and cold, go for multiple layers. I love the visual interest of this cowl neck top layered under a simple cardigan. A puffer coat is always a great way to stay warm, but it's hard to still look and feel feminine while wearing one. That is why I like this belted version. I have the same coat from a previous season from Gap and I just love it. A little belt goes a long way!
Another great tip for keeping warm and looking stylish is to choose a top made of a woven fabric like this fun gingham one. The idea here being that woven tops are much more tailored feeling and looking, so you avoid the sloppy feeling that can sometimes be equated with t-shirts. Then put a tank or tee underneath for extra warmth as needed. And an oversized scarf NEVER hurts.
Happy Shopping Lindsey and stay warm!
