My closet is very narrow, but I've worked to customize it best I can. Let's dive in...
Looking straight in, this is my closet.

To the right you will find a long IKEA shelf that holds things like my sweaters... color sorted and neatly folded, ahem.
You will also find shoes, glorious shoes! Flats are stacked for extra room and heels, wedges and boots go side by side. I'm particular like that. Also organized by color... that's kind of my thing, wait and see.
You may also find an organizer of randoms... like bracelets, this sarong that we all love, the legwarmers that some of us love and some of us hate (ahem, again) and bits of ribbon. Because ribbon makes a gal happy. Especially when it just sits there looking pretty and it's leopard print.
Next to the above mentioned items... you will find my clutches (the gold one is from girlfriend, love that gal!), belts hanging from hooks and an oldey timey jewelry box that was a gift from my husband.
Straight to the back are three bulletin boards hanging for jewelry and an inspiration board.
Upon closer inspection this is my current hair inspiration and my latest affinity for neon yellow. Also here are my vintage scarves neatly folded. The hooks at the bottom are actually shower curtain rings hanging my purses.

Then up top are the bagged "specials"... which reminds me, I should whip some of those out.
Then to the left are my jeans. I saw this organization system on another blog (can't remember where!?!?) and quickly did the same thing in my closet. Basically you fold the jeans with the labels facing out, with the thought that if you see the brand name and finish you are more likely to quickly visually recognize them so you don't have to dig through every pair. It works like a charm for me.

Then on the left I have a small dresser with all my scarves. I've tried every way to organize scarves. I'm hoping this will be the best way to keep them unwrinkled. We'll see... this is a new "feature" in my closet.
Lastly I have my clothes... which I probably could have gotten better pictures, but basically it goes... dresses then tops from the left to right. Tops are organized by color left to right and then by sleeve length within the color. This helps me keep myself organized and choose outfits quicker (I think... ).
So there you have it... hopefully that wasn't incredibly boring, maybe even a touch inspiring. How do you organize your closet? Anything I am missing or should try?

What an amazing closet! Did you make the cork board jewelry orangizers? If so, can you share how? I'd love to do something like that for me necklaces that are not used nearly enough.
definite closet envy over here! :) did you see kendi do her closet feature today? you girls are so inspiring with your organization! you make a girl want to get to work!
@skruger - good question, they are just bulletin boards from target, then I used push pins as the "hooks" and hung them on the wall with the 3M easy release strips.
I store my jeans basically the same way, and it's perfect!! Except I roll mine and have the pocket showing - that's how I identify them and I feel like I can shove more of them in each cubby. :)
You are very organized girl! Loved the peek into how your closet looks these days (I remember it from some of your old vlogs-I think I am one of your most dedicated followers!)
Anywho-I have been obsessed w/ neon yellow lately too! Like big time. So modern and fresh. I put a few touches of it in my workout wardrobe post the other day and it will surely be making more blog appearances soon!
Wow! We use a lot of the same organizing and display strategies! I'm going to borrow your pushpin idea for my necklaces-- they're getting out of control. I did a closet organization/tour post not too long ago: http://psychedforstyle.blogspot.com/2010/09/closet-organization-tips-photo-tour-of.html
:)

Love that organized closet!! :) I posted about the same thing today!!
your closet is HUGE! lucky girl! Our old, old home gave me a closet the size of a little broom closet. :(
thanks for the jeans tip...I'm all over that! I love your inspiration board too!
Your closet is amazing!! I am extremely jealous and hope you don't mind if I completely copycat your gorgeous hanging necklace frames. What an excellent idea! Thanks!
Okay, your bulletin board necklace hanging system is totally an 'A-Ha' moment for me! Why had I not ever thought of that! Brilliant, inexpensive, and cute! I'm jumping on that right away...no more tangled necklaces for me.
I love that necklace board. I need to find something mobile that I can carry with me to put necklaces on because I'm sick of having them in pouches!
I have a similar inspiration/necklace board too! Great minds think alike ;)
I would love to raid your closet!!!
Do you put tops in drawers? I think when I hang shirts for too long, the hangers streches the neck =\
Just Better Together
@ Justine, t-shirts are folded in drawers (in my bedroom) and then any woven tops or dressier tops are what you see in my closet. I just use regular plastic hangers from target and don't find that anything gets too stretched out!
Ack! I have serious closet envy. My problem is I don't really have one. Love your necklace boards!
um, can i just steal your closet? colors, style, organization and all? 'cause i seriously love it
great closet! hanging my jeans that way would free up space in my wardrobe, so i'm going to try it ... wandered over from kendi's blog -- yay, new blog to read! :)
i just found your blog through Kendi's, and i just have to say, your closet organization is impressive! thank you for all of the useful organization ideas!

This is awesome, thanks for sharing! I want to reorganize my closet soon and this provided plenty of useful tips. Thanks!
i luv a closet that is color coordinated as well as organized.
your closet looks like a miniature boutique! beautiful! i love those bulletin boards for your jewelry, i have to make something similar, i can never find my necklaces when i need them!

Love it! I tackled some closet organization over Christmas, but we still have to sort through Ryan's clothes (yep, we share!) before I can make much more headway. This gives me some great ideas!
I'm so coveting your wardrobe right now... sigh. It's so organised, and there's space for everything...
I love an organized closet and yours is fab! I did a similar thing with my necklaces, they hang at the bottom of a large bulletin board with brass hooks and the top of the board is my "inspiration board". Thanks for sharing!
Your closet looks great! I'm envious about how large it is! Hopefully my next one will be just as nice :)
this is the one i was looking for! i saw this last week & have stopped to look at it several times. but now, i have time to comment! that is one sweet closet jill! i love it! i am such a sucker for an organized closet & i really love looking at this one. i want to get a closer look at the "bagged" specials and the way you organize your jewelry is such a huge inspiration for me! love this post a very very much a lot!
p.s. after reading today's post, is the girl with the glasses & the streaked blonde hair your inspiration for changing your look? seriously....cannot wait to see it!!!
this looks great, jill! thanks for posting...i have a couple lingering closet organization things i need to tackle. this is great inspiration for me :) happy new year!
I think we could take photos of your closet and then mine and add some witty caption about how our differences are what makes us friends and we could pitch it to Hallmark for a greeting card. ;)
I love you, girl. And I am seriously impressed by how naturally organization and style comes to you.
Signed,
Your decades-long friend who has jeans tumbling off her closet shelf and tops piled in a heap of bags and scarves beneath empty hangers.
What a nice closet! I wish mine were this big! And I have a tip for scarves, I have hooks that hang over the door in my closet {any hook would work, really} and I tie them to that... it works wonders!
good job on the organization! i just found your blog. How do you get yourself through so much organization? i try to organize every few months but its just SO time consuming... plus I don't have quite as much space as you do at this point. I have a few racks that i'd put in my room to supplement my closet but at this point i don't even have room for that!
Endless Nights
