reader question: lobster-chic!

A reader emailed me recently saying she is invited to a rehearsal dinner for a friends wedding that is on the East coast.  The dress code? Lobster-chic!  For a lobster boil... how absolutely FUN is that!?!?  She wanted a few suggestions on possible attire. I was so geeked out while putting together these outfits with a decidedly East coast and nautical theme.

Without further ado... I present to you: Lobster Chic.

Do you have a question for me?  Ask away!  I am going to be on vacation next week and want to put together some fun and simple posts together in advance.  If you help me (give me fun challenges or reader questions) - then I'll help you by answering them with a similar post to this!  Next week will officially be "reader question" week! So leave them in the comments or email me!  I'll do as many as I can!

I have a challenge! I'm attending a wedding on the beach where it will be very hot and humid, and it's practically a high school reunion so I have to look great! :)

Love the necklace - it's so fun and bright!

If you're looking for a challenge, I've been really into drawstring bags lately, and trying to find a more affordable version of this Dooney bag: http://www.dooney.com/OA_HTML/ibeCCtpSctDspRte.jsp?section=54025&minisite=10020&respid=22372&dbdcc=SCBMSCBM

How funny - I thought for sure when I saw the title "lobster chic" it would be in reference to the sunburn you mentioned yesterday! haha :)

And I DO have a question/challenge for you: I work in a pretty casual office environment...jeans are a-ok most days and like you I LOVE denim, but I still want to look professional, especially since I'm the youngest person (by about a decade) in my office. Any tips for sophisticated, professional looks that include jeans? I have to venture out to the construction site from time to time for inspections & such, so I try not to wear anything too precious.

Haha, great post! Lobstah-chic... My hubby's from Boston, MA so we are very in touch with this look!

I have a question! I've sort of stuffed my closet full of maxi dresses this summer....block colors, a gorgeous black one, even a floral one.... but what do I wear WITH them? My denim jacket is getting tired...

Thanks!
Valerie

Love the title and the looks you put together!

I also have a question: I'm a stay-at-home mom to a 14-month old little boy. I used to be so into my clothes, but it seems like lately, they're all about function. I'm feeling pretty duddy in my shorts and tanks this summer. So, my question is, how can I get out of a style rut while still wearing kid friendly clothes that can sit on the floor, walk the dogs, run errands, and get food and dirt and anything else smeared on me? Oh, and did I mention that I live in North Carolina, so it's going to be at least 90 degrees every day until the middle of September? (How's that for a challenge?)

When I saw the title of this post in my reader I was like "what could this possibly be??" Ha! Loves it!

One time a Star Wars exhibit was in town at our art museum and my husbands law firm was holding an event there and a dinner following, but the invitation said "dress code: Jedi casual". So although I just dressed in cream colored normal clothes, I did do my hair in two buns over my ears, and I will never live it down. I should have known that an ultra conservative law firm was just using the words for a cute invitation, knowing that no one would dress the part. I'm so glad that I decided not to wear my Lea bikini top. Ha - just kidding! But all that aside, these are precious outfits that you put together!

I love all the outfits you pull together... what would you suggest I wear to a Taylor Swift concert (I got tickets for mother's day!)???... I am a stay-at-home mom whose wardrobe is pretty casual.
