my outfit: copy cat!

First things first... I have to admit that this outfit is a dead-on copy cat of Kendi's recent maxi dress outfit. Sorry Kendi! Or you're welcome... I'm not sure which one, since imitation is the most sincere (albeit unoriginal) form of flattery.

It's true... she came up with the outfit. I just followed in suit. In my own clothes, of course... these clothes aren't Kendi's. Promise.

If you want an outfit you can feel completely lazy in but still look decent, a maxi dress is the way to go. It's almost cozier than pajamas. And for a Monday morning (you know I'm always behind in posting, right?) it was just what the doctor ordered.

We had a little Indian Summer - I know you're not supposed to call it that, but I don't know what else Indian Summer means besides it gets cold and then warm again and the warm part is the Indian Summer. Don't kill me here peeps. Any way the dress + the scarf + the jacket was perfect because parts of the day were jacket + dress, other parts were dress + scarf and even still other parts were only dress or all three, jacket + dress + scarf. Whew, did you catch that?

What I MEAN to say, is that it was a versatile outfit for the weather. There.

I have a question though... what the heck do you do with your hair once you have been growing it out forever? It's been over a year I have been growing it, with little trims here and there to keep it healthy. But then, it's just... hair. And lots of it. Stuck to my clothes and all over my bathroom floor and just every where. So it's getting pulled back a lot more, because frankly I can stand to cut it and I don't have the time to do it all the time. This is a predicament folks! Please tell, are pony tails (like this one) acceptable? I sure hope so!

I loved that Kendi outfit! Loving your version too! Not sure about the hair issue, I cut mine shoulder length earlier this year, but it's getting long again and I'm doing the ponytail thing too.

Loved the outfit on Kendi, and now I love it on you too! Must be a winner. As far as the hair goes, I've been growing mine out -- unintentionally -- too; it's about shoulder-length (which I realize for some isn't very long at all), but I have no clue what to do with it. I've always been a blow dry + straighten kind of girl, but now I'm lost!

Love it and I loved it on Kendi as well! I have the exact dress from Old Navy and a similiar jacket. I may just sport this on Thursday when the "cool" front rolls into Texas! ;-)

i love the comfyness (is that word??) of maxi dresses!! super cute outfit. I just chopped off all my hair (12 in!) and donated it to locks of love in honor of breast cancer awareness month. Just a thought :)

Love this outfit! My hair is long too and I find it especially aggravating when I wear a scarf. I usually resort to some kind of up-do on days when the scarf is closer around my neck. Maybe this is just my issue, though! Thanks for all the great inspiration!

i loooove this look! you look chic and trendy but very natural and cool. (need more adjectives??? haha.) i don't think i'm tall enough to rock a maxi dress, but i'm very jealous of those that can.

also: i TOTALLY hear you on the hair thing. i made a new year's resolution to grow mine out, but, what's the point if you don't have time to style it?? on our trip i actually blow-dried twice. it took forever but i felt awesome. now it's back to real life and air-drying! but to answer your question--i think your cute bangs make even a simple ponytail look chic.

thanks for encouraging me to get a post done! it feels good to be back :)

You look darling. I just may have to drag out the maxi dress. :) Question: is yours navy? or black? whichever it is, it's adorable!

Hi Jill! Your ponytail looks polished, which to me, is not an easy thing to pull off! If you want to change up the look though, I would love to see you put in some layers in your hair- you know shorter around your face to frame it and longer in the back. You are already doing the side-swept bangs so it would transition nicely I think.

Jill! I am so flattered! You are such a cutie -- I love that you paired it with a scarf. I will have to follow through with that idea next time! :)

You look great! I am wearing a maxi skirt today, and love that it looks like I took effort to wear a skirt but feels like I'm lounging in cotton pjs!

Really love this look. If pulling your hair back is off-limits, I'm in serious trouble! And, since when did it become wrong to say "Indian Summer?" Political Correctness has even hijacked our blogs? Sheesh!

Love this look. Apparently so does the Bailey Family ;) And more Tulle swag?! Lucky gal!

i'm so glad you're having an "INDIAN SUMMER"! (i love that name & i'm sticking to it forever. plus, i have a sister who is full blooded native american & she says thinks like that all the time.)

LOVE THIS DRESS! i loved it in the summer & i really love it with the scarf & amazing jacket for autumn. you look amazing in it!

ok...the hair thing. i think a polished pony tail pulls together a look that is so elegant...especially depending on the type of ponytail. i do lots of inside-outs, different parts, different heights, braid-into-ponytails, or wrap arounds. also, tying it with anything other than an elastic is fun too. (that's what i use a lot of my vintage scarves for.) grow it til you can't handle how heavy it is! your hair is definitely one of your best features!

p.s. did i mention how much i love the dress?
