30/30 recap!

Photobucket

Whew... what to say? First off, I am SO glad I participated in the 30/30 Challenge (if you are new, I have been mixing and matching 30 wardrobe items for 30 days... the montage above is all of the outfits!). This challenge really gave me a new perspective on getting dressed and being creative with what I have. It also showed me the importance of buying REALLY versatile clothing that I REALLY love. And while I have always believed in these principles per se, it was a completely different experience to actually put my money where my mouth is and act upon those principles.

There was some "behind the scenes" tricks, as I was actually a few days ahead of what I had posted. So last week while my last outfits were being posted on the blog I was actually at the beach vacationing with my family. It was great to live in beach cover-ups and swimsuits all week after the challenge that was the challenge. But this week as I adjust back to life after vacay (huge drag) and newly expanded wardrobe I am finding myself in the "um.... what do I wear?" rut again. Surprisingly I have been reaching for the 30/30 items again. Which at first puzzled me...

But I think there is a lesson here. I chose the 30 items I loved the most... and now I feel even more confident in wearing great pieces even if I have to wear them more often. Does that make sense? It has made me want to seriously pare down my closet again (even though it's quite pared down now). I'll do more thinking on this... maybe we only need 30 great pieces (per season maybe???).

By the way, do you have a favorite outfit or two??? I know I did!

I've got a great week happening here on the blog! A vacation recap is in order as we just spent the most blissful week on the shores of Lake Michigan. If you don't live in the mid-west you may not realize the size and splendor of the Great Lakes. Lake Michigan is the most beautiful of them all and only 45 minutes from home. I felt like I was a million miles away though and I'll share some pictures and fun with you later this week!

and... DRUM ROLL!!!!! The fall 2010 looks:book will launch tomorrow! Yes, you heard me right, a lot more behind the scenes work between vacation and the past few days and I am positive you will just ADORE it! I do... and I put the thing together! It will make you crave cool temps, apple cider, crunching leaves underfoot and even more importantly give you a great head start on your fall shopping/planning!

Also, I've got a little contest based on a new "toy" I picked up for myself this past weekend. Something I hope will be making lots of cameos on the blog!
