tube tops... yea/nay?

I hope you all at home aren't thinking that my posting is a piece of crap lately. (although I do admit it kind of is) I am not settling in well to summer, to say the VERY, VERY LEAST. I thought I was prepared for what would be the hardship of 24/7 time with my kids - I however grossly underestimated their life-sucking qualities. I can hardly find a minute to blog, much less take outfit photos, much less pee, much less anything else. Wow. The good news is that I am likely going to hire a sitter for a day a week (to start) so I can feel like a normal human being - instead of a frayed piece of flesh - the bad news being, that I will have to hire a sitter. I always think I can do it all. For the record: I can't.

~~~
Any way, I have been meaning to write this tube top post for a while - the good thing is that behind the veil of my blog, you wouldn't have known it's been in the queue for weeks unless I told you!
In general, I really like tube tops. Cue the complaining and booing. Go ahead. I know they aren't so practical always, I know kids can tug on them (if you are a mom - so help you.), I know they require extra work in the bra department. But I always feel a little flirty and fabulous in them. And really, what screams summer more than a tube top?
Cue this top and some jeans shorts... what more would a gal need? Pure fabulousness!
Tube-top-tunic? I wouldn't have thought, by the name, that it would work. But by golly, I think it does! I love that this one has some flounce to it... so forget about sucking it in! This top with some leggings (or jeggings) or bermuda shorts and wedges would be super-de-duper cute!
Again, more with the "flounce" here. This would be a fabulous top for a girls night out or date night. I'd add a huge bib necklace and dark skinny jeans. Lovely!
My blog is suffering from somthing called 'Kids Home for Summer Vacation' also! You are not alone ;).
You inspired me to buy/wear white pants, capris, and shorts but I might need a little more time to warm up to tank tops. I'll keep an open mind on my next shopping outing.
I think tube tops can look ok on smaller chested people but that would totally be hard for me to pull off. If you are bigger on top I think you risk looking way too over the top!
And yes, the summer is super hard with kids, especially young ones. You are smart to get a sitter.
I'm right there with you girlfriend. WAY overwhelmed right now. Boo. But lucky you to hire a sitter! Wish I could afford to do that!
On a lighter note-love that tube top romper! Super cute!
I love that last one you posted and the suggestion for a girl's night out outfit. I might have to copy that idea!
I am a very firm and emphatic no to the tube top. It can very easily succumb to the problems of poor fit, stretching, etc. and the rare occasions when it does work on a body type don't really balance out the more frequent "epic fail" scenario.
That said, if you like it and feel comfortable in it, knock yourself out. I just would not choose it or recommend it personally.
I think it's comfort level, I would be so uncomfortable in one (I'm not a strapless girl so that has something to do with it I'm sure), but if you are comfortable in them then go for it. They also remind me of my Mom who wore them constantly in the late 70's/early 80's - of course she was stick thin and tan - LOL!
I've always had my kid 24/7 so I'm constantly frazzled. Come late August though it's off to Mother's Day Out for a few hours 2 days a week. I won't know what to do with myself (just kidding!)
your blog rocks.. you're doing a great job and the pics of outfits makes it even better. We have very similar taste in clothing, so it makes it doable for me to fit into your "style" and start being your copy cat :)
I have the kids 24/7 too and it's really hard to do anything but be with them. With the time you need to put into your blog, one day a week will for sure help you. Looking forward to more "the good life for less"
Was coming to say the same thing as sara/rachel - I totally think they look cute on people with your body type - think and proportionately chested. I am a little overweight and large chested, and I just don't think they work for me.
