good LOOK for less: Christine, high school teacher!

I recently completed a wardrobe consult for Christine... here's a bit about her:

I am 23 years old and in my 3rd year of teaching high school math. Like some of your other clients, am looking to spice up my teaching wardrobe. I am petite (only 5' tall), so my pants must have "short" or "petite" on the label (and even then sometimes they're too long). I love heels, and have many, many pairs, but I can only teach in flats (my school is two stories and I switch classrooms throughout the day. I live and teach in Southern California where in the winter it can be 40 degrees in the morning and 80 degrees in the afternoon, so I need layers and versatility.

Christine's budget was $500 and for that I was able to compile 27 new wardrobe pieces and 10 new outfits!

Let's take a peak at some of Christine's outfits...

Since Christine struggles with the length of pants (which I think a lot of us suffer from) I threw in a dress and some cropped pants to avoid some of that frustration. This is a simple dress that can be easily built upon with a cardigan or a jacket and a belt to create interest. Versatile clothing with multiple accessorizing options is key to keeping your wardrobe simple but fun!

If you do find yourself frequently frustrated with the inseam on pants I always suggest relying on a tailor rather than the stores to determine "what fits" - paying the extra $8 or $10 to hem a pair of pants makes them practically custom and takes the frustration out of "too long" pants. Here I paired a simple pair of trousers with an embellished top (hot for fall!) and a pair of bold flats!

You know me, I just love white pants. If you are in a warm climate year round I see no reason to not continue to wear white after Labor Day. Avoid rainy days and pair them with deep hues for the season like I did here and you are all set!
