good LOOK for less: Erika, off on a European vacation!

When Erika emailed me about a wardrobe consult for her upcoming European vacation I couldn't wait to get started on a shopping plan for her!

Here's a bit how she explained her needs:

I'd like to ask if you would have any interest in putting together pieces for a trip that my husband and I are taking to Europe. My younger sister lives in London and we will be spending the bulk of our time there with a day trip to Paris and three days in Venice. My wardrobe is compiled of extremes of each-none of which seem interchangeable: business attire (school year-I am a literacy specialist for a school district), running gear, clothes for cleaning (I own a vacation rental company and clean the properties in the summer), and lounging attire. Between pursuing my masters and the rental company, I have definitely let my style slide these past two summers. Having once been a stylish, older sister, the thought of what to pack for not only visiting Europe, but also spending time with a stylish sister, is a bit overwhelming at the moment as I gaze into my closet (something I once used to love to do ).

One casual-chic-in-Europe look coming right up!

Erika had a budget of $300 and for that I was able to compile 20 new wardrobe pieces and 8 new outfits... whew! Let's take a look at the shopping list, shall we? (click to view all the pieces)

Now let's dig into some of these outfits...

As always, it is hard to play 'favorites' - but this outfit is impossible not to love! It's perfect for a day of shopping in Paris or dining at a trattoria in Venice, no? Items like flats and scarves are perfect travel wear and a simple dress can be comfortable and chic at the same time!

Layers are key to keeping this outfit tourist ready. When you leave in the morning for a jam-packed day of fun, you can be sure that the weather will be changing as the day wears on. Versatile and light layers make wardrobe planning a snap!

A bright and vibrant top paired with a nice pair of straight leg jeans is chic and comfortable for whatever the day may bring. Dressing up a pair of jeans on vacation is a great way to get the most out of the items you are packing. They don't have to be washed between each wear and will still look polished.

Well Erika, safe and happy travels to you! Send us a picture or a postcard or something!
